FC is for a Fibre Channel attachment
BRIDGE is for a FC physical attachment on the VTC, up to a Bridge router that
converts FC to two SCSI cables to be attached to NonStop legacy SCSI ports.
For a BRIDGE, there are two VTC internal ports for the physical FC port (CH1
and CH2), each corresponding to a SCSI cable.
RELAY is a special port where the VTC is just a pass-through between a NonStop
host and other tape drives attached to the VTC. Such port cannot be used to
define NonStop drives in BackBox, but can be used in BackLib.
EXTERN is a special port, for direct attachment to a tier party Virtual tape from
which virtual volumes can be fetched and re-virtualized in BackBox. Such port
cannot be used to define NonStop drives.
Port WWN: WWN of the physical FC port.
Status: Status of the physical port.
Speed: Theoretic maximum speed of the port.
Card module: Model of the card containing the port.
Card Slot Id: Id of the slot in the server.
Card Channel Id: Id of the port in a multi-ports card.
Host WWN: WWN of the host connected to the VTC (basic connectivity).
Refresh button: queries the VTC to get the current status of ports and devices
already configured for the domain.
Virtual Devices
This table shows the virtual tape devices configured for the domain. To add devices, the
VTC must be reachable. In addition the host WWN of FC devices must be known by the
VTC (basic connection successful).
Four kinds of actions can be triggered:
1. The “Add Devices Automatically tab allows adding devices by automatically map
Guardian and VTC devices sharing the same physical connection (same host port and
VTC port).
For an FC connection the user will select a Guardian node name and a VTC port. The
GUI will identify the host port by the host WWN detected by the VTC.
