Data Store Information
Store ID: Identifies the Data Store. Must be unique and cannot be modified
after it is added.
If the Domain access (see below) is RESTRICTED or SECONDARY, this ID must
be equal to the corresponding Data Store ID in the owner domain.
Store Type: Indicates the type of Data Store and cannot be modified after it is
added. Refer to the related section in the Configuration chapter for more details.
WINDOWS FILE: to store virtual volumes in the Windows file system,
or in a compatible remote file server.
TIVOLI STORAGE MANAGER: to store virtual volumes on a TSM server.
Status: Indicates whether the Data Store volumes are allowed to be operated.
ACTIVE: this is the usual value, no restriction to volume operations.
INACTIVE: tape volumes cannot be loaded to be read or written. Automatic
operations such as the free-up of expired storage are disabled. As exception,
catalog Export/Import functions (Catalog Sync) are still active.
Domain access to Data Store: Qualifies the ownership of the Data Store
virtual volumes by the domain.
PRIMARY: This is the usual value. The current domain owns and
manages the Data Store, writes and reads virtual tapes. This value
is an equivalent to the former OWNER value in older BackBox
versions.
SECONDARY: The Data Store is being prepared for
Disaster/Recovery, receiving updates to the BackPak and DSM/TC
tape catalogs. The domain has a read-only view of the Data Store,
cannot execute backups.
RESTRICTED: The Data Store is an alternate view of a Data Store
owned by another domain. This alternate view is a purely manual
setup for D/R or volumes sharing across domains, in special cases
such as primitive D/R without the licensed Catalog Sync option.
The domain has a read-only view of the Data Store and the DSM/TC
and TMF tape catalogs. The user must manually register the
volumes in the BackPak catalog (i.e. “Create volumes”), and take
care of the DSM/TC catalog.
Primary Data Store ID: Identifies the source PRIMARY Data Store ID.
Available only for a SECONDARY or RESTRICTED Data Store, pointing to virtual
volumes copied from, or shared with, an original PRIMARY Data Store in another
domain.
When configuring Data Stores pointing to the same data or to copies of the same
data, it is convenient to give them the same ID.
But this is not always possible; this Primary Data Store ID allows linking the two
Data Stores even if they don’t have the same ID.
Description: Optional user description.
