Networking on Integrity NonStop
Servers
This section provides a high-level overview of networking on the Integrity NonStop
server. Topics discussed in this section include:
•
Networking Hardware Products Available on the Integrity NonStop Server
•
Networking Software Products Available on the Integrity NonStop Server on
page 1-3

The Gigabit Ethernet 4-port ServerNet adapter (G4SA) is the only Ethernet adapter
that can be installed in an I/O Adapter Module (IOAM) enclosure. There are two IOAMs
in an IOAM enclosure. The IOAM also supports the Fibre Channel ServerNet adapter
(FCSA), which provides access to various storage subsystems.
The installation slots for G4SAs and FCSAs differ by server model. For more
information, see the planning guide for your server model (for example, the Integrity
NonStop NS1000 Planning Guide).
You can use other networking hardware products by connecting some Integrity
NonStop server models using fiber-optic ServerNet links from a processor switch
(p-switch) on an Integrity NonStop server to a NonStop S-series I/O enclosure that has
IOMF2 components installed.
The Versatile I/O (VIO) enclosure (supported in H06.08 and subsequent H-series
RVUs) also provides connectivity on the NonStop NS14000 and NonStop NS1000
server. The VIO enclosure supports Ethernet and fibre channel connectivity.
Note. Not all of the Integrity server models support NonStop S-series I/O enclosure
connections or ServerNet clusters. To determine if your server model supports these features,
see the installation documentation for your server (for example, the NonStop NS16000
Hardware Installation Manual).
