IP CLIM CG AND IP CLIM T (Optional)
The IP CLuster I/O Module (IP CLIM CG or IP CLIM T) is a Carrier Grade version of the commercial
IP CLIM and functions as a ServerNet Ethernet adapter providing HP-standard Gigabit Ethernet
Network Interface Cards (NICs) to implement one of the IP CLIM configurations (either Option 1
configuration or Option 2 configuration).
The IP CLIM:
• Can coexist with other types of CLIMs (Storage or Telco) in the same system.
• Is configured as part of a pair for fault-tolerance.
• Connects to the maintenance switch using an embedded Ethernet port.
• Has a ground connection between the CLIM chassis and the cabinet. For the procedure for
this ground connection and for details about the next bulleted item, ask your HP service provider
to refer to the CLuster I/O Module (CLIM) Installation and Configuration Guide.
• Has a retainer for the cable management arm, which keeps the cable management arm from
moving during a seismic event.
• Supports five Gigabit Ethernet ports. These ports can have a copper or fiber-optic interface,
depending on the CLIM model and configuration (either configuration Option 1 or Option 2)
as described as follows.
Carrier Grade IP DL380 G6 CLIM Option 1 Configuration (5 Ether Copper Ports)
• Slot 1 contains a ServerNet PCIe interface card, which provides the ServerNet fabric
connections.
• Slot 2 contains a NIC that provides two copper Ethernet interfaces.
• The embedded Gigabit NIC provides Eth1, Eth2, and Eth3 ports for customer data.
Carrier Grade IP DL380 G6 CLIM Option 2 Configuration (3 Ethernet Copper/2 Ethernet
Optical Ports)
• Slot 1 contains a ServerNet interface PCIe card, which provides the ServerNet fabric
connections.
• Slot 2 contains a NIC that provides one fiber-optical Ethernet interface.
• Slot 3 contains a NIC that provides one fiber-optical Ethernet interface.
• The embedded Gigabit NIC provides Eth1, Eth2, and Eth3 ports for customer data.

• Slot 1 contains a ServerNet PCIe interface card, which provides the ServerNet fabric
connections.
• Slot 2 contains a 2-port 1GbE copper NIC for customer interfaces.
• The embedded Gigabit NIC provides Eth1, Eth2, and Eth3 ports for customer data.
