NonStop NS2200 Series Planning Guide
Carrier Grade IP DL380p Gen8 CLIM Option 2 Configuration (3 Ethernet Copper/2
Ethernet Optical Ports)
• Slot 1 contains a ServerNet PCIe interface card, which provides the ServerNet fabric
connections.
• Slot 2 contains a 2-port 1GbE optical NIC for customer interfaces.
• The embedded Gigabit NIC provides Eth1, Eth2, and Eth3 ports for customer data.
All CLIMs use the Cluster I/O Protocols (CIP) subsystem. For more information about managing
your CLIMs using the CIP subsystem, see the Cluster I/O Protocols (CIP) Configuration and
Management Manual.
NOTE: For information about coexistence limits for IP and Telco CLIMs, see “IP and Telco CLIM
CG Coexistence Limits ” (page 158).
Telco CLIM CG AND Telco CLIM T (Optional)
The Telco CLuster I/O Module (Telco CLIM CG or Telco CLIM T) is a rack-mounted device that is
part of some NS2200 series system configurations and provides I/O communications using
protocols common to the Telco environment, including:
• Message Transfer Part (MTP) Level 3 User Adaptation Layer (M3UA) over IP
The Telco CLIM functions as a ServerNet Ethernet adapter and:
• Supports five Ethernet Ports that are available for SIP or M3UA processes.
• Can coexist with other types of CLIMs in the same system.
• Is configured as part of a pair for fault-tolerance.
• Connects to the maintenance switch using an embedded Ethernet port.
• Has a ground connection between the CLIM chassis and the cabinet. For detailed information
about this ground connection and the next bulleted item, ask your HP service provider to refer
to the CLuster I/O Module (CLIM) Installation and Configuration Guide
• Has a retainer for the cable management arm, which keeps the cable management arm from
moving during a seismic event.
For an illustration of the slots on a Telco CLIM, see the illustration for the commercial DL380 G6
and DL380p Gen8 Telco CLIM in “Telco CLuster I/O Module (CLIM) (Optional)” (page 33), in
which the slots locations are the same, although the power supplies differ.
For detailed information about this CLIM , including cable management and connections to other
system components, see the CLuster I/O Module (CLIM) Installation and Configuration Guide.
DAT 160 Tape Unit (Optional)
The DAT 160 tape unit is 1U high and supports two HP DAT160 internal tape drives. The tape
drives are neither dual powered nor dual ported: Each tape drive is independently powered and
has its own SAS input.
