NonStop NS2400 Series Planning Guide

NonStop NS2400T and NonStop NS2400ST Hardware
Some variation of enclosure combinations is possible within the modular cabinets of a NonStop
NS2400T or NS2400ST system. The applications and purpose of any NonStop NS2400 series
system determine the number and combinations of hardware within a modular cabinet.
Standard Hardware for a NonStop NS2400T and NS2400ST system includes:
“Commercial Modular Cabinets (NonStop NS2400T)” (page 107)
“Seismic Rack (NonStop NS2400ST System Only)” (page 107)
“Blade Element (DC-Powered)” (page 107)
“Versatile I/O (VIO) Enclosure (DC-Powered)” (page 108)
“Storage CLuster I/O Module (CLIM CG or CLIM T)” (page 108)
“SAS Disk Enclosures” (page 109)
“Fuse Panel” (page 110)
“CG Maintenance Switch” (page 110)
“System Console for DC-Powered Systems” (page 111)
Optional Hardware for a NonStop NS2400T and NS2400ST system includes:
“IP CLIM CG and IP CLIM T (Optional)” (page 111)
“Telco CLIM CG and Telco CLIM T (Optional)” (page 113)
“DAT 160 Tape Unit (Optional)” (page 113)
All NonStop NS2400 series system components are field-replaceable units that can only be serviced
by service providers trained by HP.
Because there is some variation in configurations, you can calculate the total power consumption,
heat dissipation, and weight of each modular cabinet based on the hardware configuration that
you order from HP. For site preparation specifications for the NS2400T cabinets and their associated
enclosures described in this chapter, see Chapter 9 (page 127).
Commercial Modular Cabinets (NonStop NS2400T)
For information about commercial modular cabinets for NonStop NS2400T systems, see “Dimensions
and Weights” (page 74).
Seismic Rack (NonStop NS2400ST System Only)
The seismic rack is 36U, has a 1200 lb payload limit. For detailed specifications for the NonStop
NS2400ST seismic rack, see “Seismic Rack Physical Specifications ” (page 138). For detailed
information about seismic rack installation, cable management procedures, and equipment, ask
your HP service provider to refer to the NonStop NS2200 Series and NS2400 Series Hardware
Installation Manual.
In this guide, the word “rack” and “cabinet” are used interchangeably.
Blade Element (DC-Powered)
The HP Integrity rx2800 i4 server is adapted for use as a blade element in NonStop NS2400T
and NS2400ST system and uses -48 volt DC power. Each rx2800 i4 blade element contains an
Intel Itanium processor with two cores enabled and a ServerNet PCI adapter card to provide
connectivity to the ServerNet fabrics.
For details about the rx2800 i4 server, see the HP Integrity rx2800 i4 Server User Service Guide
