SAS Ports to SAS Tape Devices
SAS tape devices have one SAS port that can be directly connected to the HBA SAS port on a
Storage CLIM. Each SAS tape enclosure supports two tape drives. With a SAS tape drive connected
to the system, you can use the BACKUP and RESTORE utilities to save data to and restore data
from tape.
Fibre Channel Ports to ESS
ESS can be connected directly to the two (customer-ordered) HBA fibre-channel (FC) ports on a
Storage CLIM (FC ports are only supported on the NonStop NS2400 commercial system).
Fibre Channel Ports to Tape Devices
Fibre Channel tape devices can be connected directly to the two (customer-ordered) HBA
fibre-channel ports on a Storage CLIM. (FC ports are only supported on the NonStop NS2400
commercial system). With a Fibre Channel tape drive connection to a server, you can use the
BACKUP and RESTORE utilities to save data to and restore data from tape.

The NonStop NS2400 uses the rack-mounted SAS disk enclosure, and its SAS disk drives are
controlled through the Storage CLIM. NonStop NS2400 series systems support M8381-25 SAS
disk enclosures connected to DL380 G6 or DL380p Gen8 Storage CLIMs. This illustration shows
