Installation and Configuration Tasks for FASTPSMB
Installation and Configuration Tasks for
FASTPSMB
To install and configure a FASTPSMB print process, perform the following tasks:
1. Install the FASTPSMB object code ($SYSTEM.SYSTEM.FASTPSMB) This step is
described in Installing a FASTP Network Print Process on page 2-2.
2. Add the following configuration information to the Spooler subsystem either
interactively or in a command file:
a. Create one or more FASTPSMB print processes using the Spoolcom PRINT
command. Creation of a print process is described in step 2 of Spooler
Configuration Tasks on page 2-14.
b. Associate each device name (that is, the device name designated for an SMB
LAN print queue) with the appropriate FASTPSMB print process and specify
the appropriate Spooler device attributes for each device using the Spoolcom
DEV command.
A FASTPSMB print process supports a maximum of 32 SMB LAN print
queues.
General use of the DEV command is described in step 3 of Spooler
Configuration Tasks on page 2-14. The specification of Spooler device names
and device attributes for SMB LAN print queues are discussed in Spooler
Configuration Considerations for FASTPSMB on page 4-4.
c. Designate one or more Spooler job locations for each SMB LAN print queue
and associate each one with the appropriate device name using the Spoolcom
LOC command. Designation of a Spooler job location is described in step 4 of
Spooler Configuration Tasks on page 2-14.
3. Create a FASTCNFG file to contain network protocol and transport parameters for
the devices. The creation of a FASTCNFG file is discussed in general terms in
Configuring a FASTCNFG File on page 2-17. FASTCNFG DEVICE attributes for
SMB LAN print queues are discussed in FASTCNFG DEVICE Configuration for
FASTPSMB on page 4-5.
