Spooler Configuration Considerations for FASTPX25
A FASTPX25 print process supports a maximum of 32 X.25 printers.
General use of the DEV command is described in step 3 of Spooler
Configuration Tasks on page 2-14. The specification of Spooler device names
and device attributes for X.25 printers are discussed in Spooler Configuration
Considerations for FASTPX25 on page 6-9.
c. Designate one or more Spooler job locations for each X.25 printer and
associate each one with the appropriate device name using the Spoolcom LOC
command. Designation of a Spooler job location is described in step 4 of
Spooler Configuration Tasks on page 2-14.
3. Create a FASTCNFG file to contain network protocol and transport parameters for
the devices. The creation of a FASTCNFG file is discussed in general terms in
Configuring a FASTCNFG File on page 2-17. FASTCNFG configuration attributes
for X.25 printers are discussed in FASTCNFG DEVICE and MACRO Configuration
for FASTPX25 on page 6-12.
Spooler Configuration Considerations for
FASTPX25
The Spooler configuration tasks required for any FASTP network print process also are
required for the FASTPX25 print process. However, special consideration should be
given to the following aspects of these configuration tasks:
•
Device name format
•
Some device attributes
For a complete discussion of the Spooler configuration tasks required to configure a
FASTPX25 print process, see Configuring a FASTP Network Print Process in the
Spooler Subsystem on page 2-5.
Device Names
The Spooler device name is the name which is used by the Spooler to represent the
X.25 printer.
If a single X25AM subdevice (X.25 SVC) is used for each printer, then the Spooler
device name must be the name of a real X25AM subdevice.
For example, if an X25AM subdevice is named $X25A.#PRINT and the subdevice will
be used by only one printer, the Spooler device name must be specified as:
$X25A.#PRINT
