Optional Device Attributes for FASTPXNS
RETRIES = spp-retries
specifies the number of times FASTPXNS attempts to retransmit a sequenced
packet that has been ignored or nack'd. The RETRIES specification is optional.
The default value is 20.
SHADOW[n] = shadow-file-namen...
is a required attribute if tracing is enabled (that is, if bit 1 (%40000) of the PARM
attribute is set using the Spoolcom DEV command). Each value specified defines
the Guardian file name of a Guardian file used for trace output. If a file name is not
fully qualified, the volume and subvolume name default to the volume and
subvolume where the object code for the FASTPXNS print process resides.
From 1 to 8 trace files can be defined.
Tracing is discussed in Section 8, Troubleshooting and Using the Trace Facility.
TIMEOUT = spp-timeout
specifies the time (in units of 10 milliseconds) to wait for a sequenced packet to be
acknowledged. The TIMEOUT specification is optional. The default value is 100 (1
second). If no response is received after the configured RETRIES value,
FASTPXNS places the device offline with error 104.
Example 7-3 on page 7-15 shows a FASTCNFG file for a FASTPXNS print process.
