Configuring a FASTP Network Print Process in the
Spooler Subsystem
Defining Spooler Device Attributes
Spooler device attributes specify printing options for the printer devices. These
attributes are specified in the Spoolcom DEV command. Table 2-3 lists the Spooler
device attributes and briefly describes their effect on FASTP network printers. The
attributes (including their syntax) are described in detail in the Spooler Utilities
Reference Manual. Note the following about Spooler device attributes:
•
In most instances, the DEV PARM attribute must always be specified to instruct the
FASTP network print process to read the FASTCNFG file. The DEV PARM
attribute is described in detail in Defining the Spooler DEV PARM Attribute on
page 2-11.
•
Although most Spooler device attributes are applicable to all FASTP network
printers, their effect can vary based on the version of the FASTP network print
process being configured. Special considerations for the device attributes for each
FASTP network print process are described in the product-specific sections of this
manual.
Table 2-3. Spooler Device Attributes and Their Effect on FASTP Network
Printers (page 1 of 4)
Attribute Effect on FASTP Network Printers
ALIGN Prints, on the specified device, a page containing the device form-
alignment t
emplate (a measured ruler line). In most cases, the effect
of ALIGN is the same as that of any other Spooler printer, however,
support for ALIGN can vary based on the specific FASTP network
print process being implemented. See the product-specific sections of
this manual for exceptions.
CHARMAP Indicates whether a multibyte character-set translation is required
and
, if so, what type of printer is being used. The effect of CHARMAP
is the same as that of any other Spooler printer.
CLEAR Stops printing the current job. The effect of CLEAR is the same as
tha
t of any other Spooler printer.
DELETE Removes the device from the Spooler subsystem. The effect of
DELETE is the same
as that of any other Spooler printer.
DEVRESET Specifies whether the print process resets both the print device and
the
print input or output process (IOP) at the beginning of each print
job. In most cases, the effect of DEVRESET is the same as that of
any other Spooler printer, however support for DEVRESET can vary
based on the specific FASTP network print process being
implemented. See the product-specific sections of this manual for
exceptions.
