Configuring a FASTP Network Print Process in the
Spooler Subsystem
Defining the Spooler DEV PARM Attribute
Table 2-4 describes the DEV PARM bits that can be specified for any of the FASTP
network print processes. Note the following about the DEV PARM attribute:
•
DEV PARM bits are always optional (except for bit 5 (%2000) which instructs the
print process to read the FASTCNFG file.) Bit 5 must, in most instances, be
specified.
•
In most cases, the bits supported and their meanings are the same for all the
FASTP network print processes; however, support can vary based on the specific
FASTP network print process being implemented. See the product-specific
sections of this manual for the exceptions.
•
The DEV PARM attribute is a 16-bit mask; for a description of how to calculate the
value of a bit mask, see Calculating the Value of the PARM Attributes on
page 2-13.
Table 2-4. Supported DEV PARM Attribute Bit Values for FASTP Network Print
Processes (page 1 of 2)
Bit
Number
Octal
Value
Decimal
Value Definition
1 %40000 16384 Enables tracing. To disable tracing,
subtract the
appropriate octal or decimal value from the final
PARM value specified.
5 %2000 1024 Forces the print process to read the FASTCNFG file.
With the f
ollowing exception, this bit should always
remain set for all the FASTP network print processes.
For FASTPTCP only, beginning with the G06.10 and
D48.0
2 RVUs, this bit is no longer required and the
FASTCNFG/FASTKCON files are always read.
7 %400 256 For SNAX printers, instructs the print process to
ig
nore the LU RECSIZE and use 1020 bytes as the
block size.
8 %200 128 For 5515, 5516, and 5518 printers, treats the printer
as a PCL le
vel 2 device without an electronic VFU.
When this bit is set, the print process does not send
VFU escape sequences but uses form feed and line
feeds instead.
For 5573 and 5577 printers, adds a form feed after
line 66
if SETMODE 5 0 0 has been issued and no
form feed or CONTROL 1 0 is encountered.
