FASTCNFG DEVICE Attributes for All FASTPTCP
Devices
where the required attributes are defined as follows:
device-name
specifies the Spooler DEV name for the TCP/IP printer. The name is a legal
Guardian device name in local form. This name should not exist as a real Guardian
device on the local system.
CONTYPE = {TCP/IP | TCP/IP-TELNET}
specifies the type of connection. This attribute is not case sensitive. Although a
default value (TCP/IP) exists for the CONTYPE attribute, for clarity it is
recommended that this attribute be explicitly specified even when the default value
is used. The values are:
TCP/IP
Use for direct TCP/IP connections to an HP JetDirect card, a Lexmark card, a
Microplex server, an LPD server, and for terminal servers that do not support
TELNET. TCP/IP is the default value.
TCP/IP-TELNET
Use for TTAP and dumb serial printers connected to an AWAN server and
other terminal servers.
PROTOCOL = {NONE | TTAP | HPJETDIRECT | LEXMARK |MICROPLEX |
LPD1179}
specifies the type of protocol. Although a default value (NONE) exists for the
PROTOCOL attribute, for clarity this attribute value should be explicitly specified
even when the default value is used. The values are:
NONE
Data is sent on the TCP/IP session with data integrity maintained by the
TCP/IP layer alone. Use for TCP/IP direct-connected printers, devices
connected through a TELNET server, and serial printers connected
asynchronously through an AWAN server. NONE is the default value.
For PROTOCOL=NONE, POLLINT and POLLNUM control retries to error 4127
ECONNREFUSED when attempting to connect to the remote printer device.
F
ASTPTCTP retries the connect POLLNUM times after waiting for POLLINT.
POLLINT is specified in units of 0.01 second tics. Defaults are POLLINT=100
(1.00 seconds) and POLLNUM=10.
If error 4127 persists, the device is placed offline.
POLLINT and POLLNUM are separately documented for other PROTOCOL
settings.
