FASTCNFG DEVICE Attributes for All FASTPTCP
Devices
TTAP
Use with all Printronix printers supporting the TTAP/TAP protocol (5512, 5515,
5516, 5518, 5573, 5574, 5577) connected to an AWAN server or other terminal
server. For the Printronix 5515, 5516, and 5518 models, which use the TAP
protocol, still set PROTOCOL= TTAP, and set the Spoolcom DEV DEVTYPE
field to the actual model. FASTPTCP detects the DEVTYPE value and uses
the TAP protocol.
HPJETDIRECT
Use for HP JetDirect connections. The SNMP agent on the card is queried to
determine job status.
LEXMARK
Use with the laser printer models 5576/78 and other Lexmark printers
supporting the job completion protocol.
MICROPLEX
Use with the Printronix 552x/553x line printers and other printers connected
through a Microplex M205/M206 print server.
LPD1179
Use with line printer daemons conforming to RFC 1179; the job is transferred
using the protocol described in the RFC.
ADDRESS = {ip-addess | hostname}
specifies the address of the printer. The address can be either the 4-byte dotted IP
address (nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn) or the IP host name. If a host name is specified,
FASTPTCP resolves the address from the HOSTS file or from a network DNS
server. See Using the HOSTS Keyword Entry on page 3-14 for a discussion of
these name-resolution methods. The ADDRESS specification is mandatory
.
PORT = ip-port
specifies the decimal port number assigned to the physical printer port. T
he value
specified for PORT must match the setting of the printer or print server.
For the HPJETDIRECT, LEXMARK, and LPD1179 protocols, this parameter can be
omitted. In these cases FASTPTCP uses the correct port number as the default
(HPJETDIRECT = 9100, LPD1179 = 515, LEXMARK = 9400).
For the MICROPLEX protocol, the specification can vary based on the specifics of
your printer
. The default value is 4400. Printronix 5525/5531 printers use a
customized version of the Microplex M205 print server and use port 9100;
therefore, in these instances, a PORT value of 9100 must be specified. Other
Microplex printer servers are generally configured for port 4400. In these
instances, the PORT specification can be omitted.
