Preparing to Migrate From NonStop
SQL/MP to NonStop SQL/MX
Before migrating from NonStop SQL/MP to NonStop SQL/MX, follow these planning
guidelines:

Meeting System Hardware Requirements on page 3-1
Meeting Operating System Requirements on page 3-2
Planning for Performance and Capacity on page 3-2

Using NonStop SQL/MX and NonStop SQL/MP
Together
NonStop SQL/MX and NonStop SQL/MP can coexist on the same system. Therefore, if
you want to use NonStop SQL/MX, you are not required to convert your existing
SQL/MP applications and database objects to NonStop SQL/MX.
If you have NonStop SQL/MX installed on your system, you can create new SQL/MX
applications that access SQL/MP database objects. SQL/MX applications can access
SQL/MP database objects, SQL/MX database objects, or both. For more information,
see Migrating from NonStop SQL/MP to NonStop SQL/MX
on page 1-2.
4, Converting SQL/MP Applications to SQL/MX Applications, and 5, Converting
SQL/MP Tables to SQL/MX Tables, explain how to convert SQL/MP applications and
database objects, respectively, to NonStop SQL/MX. You can use the information in
those sections to develop and implement new SQL/MX applications and database
objects.
Meeting System Hardware Requirements
SQL/MX Release requires processors that support IEEE floating-point functions. All
NS-series systems have processors that support IEEE floating-point functions.
Otherwise, the
InstallSqlmx script does not install SQL/MX. For more information
