TS/MP 2.5 Management Programming Manual
• When you cool start a Pathway subsystem (that is, when you use a pre-existing configuration
file to start a Pathway subsystem) after using the CONTROL PM command, the PATHMON
process uses the values you changed with the CONTROL PM command.
• When the creation of a backup process fails more than ten times, the PATHMON process
delays further attempts to create a backup process. The delay is 1 minute if stopped 11 times,
2 minutes if stopped 12 times, and so forth. However, the PATHMON process does not delay
creating a backup process if any of these occur:
◦ The CPU in which the PATHMON primary or backup process is executing fails.
◦ A SWITCH PM command is executed.
◦ A CONTROL PM command is executed with a value in the ZBACKUPCPU field.
In addition to not delaying the creation of a backup process if the preceding conditions occur,
the PATHMON process resets its internal counter. Consequently, creation of a backup process
has to fail again ten more times before the PATHMON process delays creating the backup
process.
• If the logging file is a terminal, restrict the activity on that terminal to avoid interfering with
the PATHMON process messages. If a logging terminal is unavailable, the TS/MP environment
may slow down and be unable to support transaction processing.
• EDIT files cannot be used as log files for the PATHMON process. If you attempt to use an EDIT
file for a log, the PATHMON process returns an error and fails to open the log.
• HP recommends that ZDUMP be set to ON for production systems. Having a dump file available
greatly enhances your ability to solve system problems, and is a likely requirement when
requesting help from your HP representative.
• If you encounter system problems and the PATHMON process has not created a dump because
ZDUMP was set to OFF, use the PATHCOM DUMPMEMORY option to force a dump.
• If the processor number mentioned in the CONTROL PATHMON SPREBALANCECPU command
is down, the rebalancing of the server processes cannot be started and the PATHMON process
returns an error:
*1168* REBALANCE PROCESSOR DOWN
Limitations
Valid number has to be entered as an input parameter.
GETVERSION
Use the GETVERSION command to return the version of the PATHMON process.
Continuation
You cannot use continuation with this command.
