When ZMODE is set to ORDERLY, the file used to communicate with the PATHMON process
is busy processing the shutdown request. To escalate the shutdown, open the PATHMON
process again and then send a SHUTDOWN2 PATHWAY command with ZMODE set to ABORT
or IMMEDIATE. The error ZPWY-ERR- PM-SHUTDOWN-ESCALATED is then sent to the initial
shutdown requester. The requester can either close the file or use that file to monitor the
shutdown.
