TS/MP 2.5 Management Programming Manual
About This Manual
This preface describes the purpose and the contents of this manual and other manuals that are
closely related to this manual.
This manual describes the TS/MP and Pathway/iTS products. The contents of these two products
are:
• TS/MP: This product consists of the PATHMON process, the application cluster services (ACS)
subsystem processes, the PATHCOM process and interface, and the Pathsend procedure calls.
• Pathway/iTS: This product consists of the terminal control process (TCP), the SCREEN COBOL
compiler and run-time environment, and the SCREEN COBOL Utility Program (SCUP).
With the HP NonStop Transaction Management Facility (TMF), the TS/MP product forms the
foundation for the HP open transaction processing and client/server products.
The Pathway/iTS product supports requester programs that run in the Guardian environment and
communicates with terminals and intelligent devices. It requires the services of the TS/MP product.
This manual describes the Management Programming interface to the HP NonStop™ TS/MP
product. It is intended for programmers writing applications that manage TS/MP. It describes how
to use the Subsystem Programmatic Interface (SPI) commands in a management application that
configures and controls objects in a TS/MP transaction-processing system controlled by the
PATHMON process and monitors the status and performance of those and other objects in a TS/MP
environment. It also provides syntax and complete descriptions of all Pathway SPI commands except
those specific to the NonStop Pathway/iTS product in addition to cause, effect, and recovery
information for all messages generated by the PATHMON process and by SPI.
