Overview of Installing the H06.08
RVU
This section introduces the basic installation tools and requirements in H-series RVUs,
including installing the site update tape (SUT) for a release version update revision
(RVUR). For information on installing software product revisions (SPRs), see
Appendix A, Using DSM/SCM to Install SPRs.
SUT on DVD
Beginning with the H06.06 RVU, the H-series SUT is also available on DVD. For
instructions on installing the SUT from the DVD, see the IPSetup User’s Guide.
Disk Space Requirements
The maximum SUT with all standard products, plus all optional products available to
customers, contains approximately 8 gigabytes (GB) of data, depending on optional
products (however, actual disk space required can be much greater).
Operational Differences Between the H06.08
and G-series RVUs
For planning purposes, the following list represents known differences.
TAPEBOOT is not supported in H-series RVUs. You cannot make a system image
tape (SIT).
In H-series RVUs, native compilers and linkers have new names. Therefore,
automated scripts require changing.
The subvolume for public libraries is SYSnn in G-series RVUs. In H-series RVUs, it
is ZDLLnnn.
In H-series RVUs, DSM/SCM installation default is to manage OSS files. In
G-series RVUs, the default is not to manage OSS files. For OSS users who
request HP manufacturing to install OSS, it is assumed that OSS is installed and
configured.
In the H06.08 RVU, tape storage on the HP Integrity NonStop NS-series system
supplies both Fibre Channel (FC) and SCSI tape products. Tape devices can be
directly connected to an HP Integrity NonStop NS-series server in two ways:
°
Fibre channel tape devices can be connected directly to a Fibre Channel
ServerNet adapter (FCSA) in an IOAM enclosure.
