Managing Maintenance Entity Firmware for Processor Switch
and I/O Adapter Module (IOAM)
There is maintenance entity (ME) firmware on the ServerNet Switch Boards located in
both processor switch and I/O adapter modules. In processor switches, the
maintenance entities provide functionality similar to what the service processors (SPs)
do for S-series systems (including connectivity within the system and to a ServerNet
cluster). In IOAMs, the maintenance entity provides connectivity between the
processor switches and FCSA and G4SA adapters located within the IOAM. The ME
firmware must be updated to the same version for both processor switches and all the
IOAMs in your system. There is also ME FPGA for each ServerNet Switch Board. ME
firmware and ME FPGA can be checked and updated from either the OSM Service
Connection or Low-Level Link.
The service processor (SP) supports connection of legacy IOMF enclosures to a
processor switch. This provides the Integrity NonStop NS-series server platform with
connectivity to NonStop S-series legacy input and output controllers (IOCs) and
storage.
Updating ME Firmware
Table 1-1 shows the current ME firmware information for both processor switches and
IOAMS:
The AAI SPR is available for the Maintenance Entity firmware. This SPR lifts a
restriction for IOAME modules connected to S-series enclosures when T1089ABR
firmware has been installed on the S-series processors.
