About This Document This compendium provides categorized information about new features, migration issues, and fallback considerations for H06.10. It also includes references and sources for migration planning. Supported Release Version Updates (RVUs) This manual supports the H06.10 RVU. Intended Audience This compendium is written for system managers or anyone who needs to understand how migrating to H06.
1 H06.10 Overview This chapter provides an overview of the H06.10 RVU. Major New Features Table 1-1 summarizes the main changes in H06.10. For descriptions of new features, see the appropriate chapters. Table 1-1 Summary of the H06.10 RVU Sections and Categories Major New Features Chapter 2: Operating System No new features in the H06.10 RVU Chapter 3: Application Development Products • C++ Library Chapter 4: Database and Transaction Processing Products • Pathway/iTS 1.1 • SQL/MX 2.3 • TMF 3.
— — • • • • • 10 SUT-based products migrating to H-series RVUs Independent Products (IPs) that become SUT products on H-series RVUs For descriptions of Integrity NonStop NS-series hardware and the ServerNet SAN and how to plan and configure the site in preparation for installation of the system, see the NonStop NS-Series Planning Guide. For changes in H-series installation, see the H06.10 Software Installation and Upgrade Guide.
2 Operating System The H06.10 RVU contains no new features for the operating system.
3 Application Development Products C++ Performance Enhancement The C++ Version 3 runtime library (ZCPP3DLL) is upgraded to the latest release of the Dinkumware C++ runtime library in order to support the ISO/IEC IS I4882 language specification and to upgrade the exception handling mechanism in the H-series C++ Version Neutral DLL (ZCPPDLL) for improved performance.
4 Database and Transaction Processing Products The H06.10 RVU includes new features for these products: • • • Pathway/iTS 1.1 and Web Client TMF 3.5 SQL/MX 2.3 Pathway/iTS Screen COBOL The H06.10 RVU introduces Pathway/iTS 1.1. Pathway/iTS 1.1 supports several new SCOBOL statements.
Fallback Issues Pathway/iTS 1.1 packages the new PathTCP4 (T0700) as well as the current PathTCP3 (T0524). To use PathTCP4, the error handling logic in SCOBOL client programs needs to be considered because PathTCP4 returns new error numbers. In addition, new SCOBOL dialog verbs can be coded. Once modified for PathTCP4, a client application cannot be used with PathTCP3 since PathTCP3 does not contain the new features. TMF 3.
5 Installation and Configuration Products The H06.
6 Manageability Products The H06.10 RVU contains these new features for manageability products: • • • Measure support for ANSI SQL Names Netbatch increased job limit Safeguard Enhancements Measure Support for ANSI SQL Names Measure ANSI SQL names support allows a SQL/MX user to specify measurements using the ANSI SQL name as an alternative to using the underlying system-generated Guardian file name.
the user/alias. In previous versions, these attributes could not be reset unless the user/alias was deleted and re-created. New User/Alias Attribute A new user/alias attribute, STATIC-FAILED-LOGON-RESET-TIME, is introduced. This attribute indicates the time at which the values of the attributes STATIC FAILED LOGON COUNT and LAST-UNSUCCESSFUL-ATTEMPT were last reset. This attribute cannot be modified; it can only be viewed by the detailed output of the Safecom INFO User/Alias command.
7 Hardware Products HP Integrity NonStop NS3000AC Server The HP Integrity NonStop NS3000AC server is AC powered entry-level Telco server that combines HP Integrity rx2660 servers with the NonStop operating system. Each HP Integrity rx2660 server contains a single Intel Itanium based processor and a ServerNet PCI adapter card to provide ServerNet connectivity into the NonStop Value Architecture (NSVA). For information about the NSVA, see the NonStop NS1000 Planning Guide.
8 Networking Products OSI FTAM and MHS Security Enhancement The maximum password length in OSI FTAM (T6982) and MHS (T7937) is increased from 8 characters to 64 characters. Migration The Standard Security SPR T6533H04 or later must be installed for this feature to work.
A Sources for Migration Assistance and Information This appendix describes the assistance HP provides when problems arise during the migration and testing process. HP also provides services that can help you develop a migration plan and implement migration tasks. Most migration and release documentation is available through the HP NonStop Technical Library (NTL).
