H06.10 Software Installation and Upgrade Guide
Visual Inspect
Restart $IMON Required
If you use Visual Inspect, you must restart the Inspect Monitor process ($IMON) every time you
restart the system.
Upgrading Visual Inspect Client to Version 3.x
If you are currently running Visual Inspect client version 2.x, upgrading to version 3.x is optional.
However, to get the full benefit of the features and performance of the H-series Visual Inspect
servers and client, you must upgrade to Visual Inspect client version 3.x. If you do plan to upgrade
Visual Inspect client, HP recommends that you upgrade to the latest version.
ServerNet Cluster
Starting in H06.05, the HP NonStop ServerNet Switch (model 6780) can support the long-distance
option in a three-zone configuration of the layered topology. Before this RVU, the long-distance
option was restricted to a two-zone configuration. To use the ServerNet cluster long-distance
option in a three-zone configuration, you must install the H06.05 or later H-series RVU or the
T0502H01^AAP or later SPR.
HP recommends upgrading the Integrity NonStop NS-series servers to the H06.05 or later H-series
RVU if the servers will be connected to a long-distance ServerNet Cluster. If the long-distance
cluster also contains NonStop S-series servers, HP recommends upgrading those servers to the
G06.28 or later G-series RVU. H-series RVUs starting with H06.05 contain T9050H02^AQD or
later, and G-series RVUs starting with G06.28 contain T9050G09^AQB or later. These two T9050
SPRs correct a performance defect that affects Inter-Processor Communication (IPC) long-distance
cluster transfers to and from Integrity NonStop NS-series servers. For details, see the
T9050H02^AQD and T9050G09^AQB softdocs.
Other than the T0502H02^AAP or later SPR, a three-zone long-distance configuration requires
the same SPRs as a two-zone long-distance configuration.
SMF
Beginning in the H06.05 RVU, SMFINTRFCE (T0063) is merged into the SMF (T8472) product.
The merging of these T-numbers can cause a problem if you are installing the SMF bundle
(T8472H01^ACW or later) on a pre-H06.05 system without installing the entire SUT. (The problem
does not occur if you are installing the entire G06.28 or later SUT.)
The problem occurs because the merged version of SMF and the existing T0063 component in
your current (pre-H06.05) RVU both attempt to place the file ZSMFC in the ZSPIDEF subvolume.
This attempt results in a “duplicate file was found” error during the DSM/SCM installation of
T8472H01^ACW or later.
You can avoid this problem by manually removing T0063 before the upgrade, as follows: During
the upgrade operation, DSM/SCM detects the duplicate SMF components and generates a message
indicating that T0063 is already present in your current configuration. DSM/SCM then prompts
you to either retain or remove it. Respond to this prompt by requesting removal of T0063.
Backup/Restore 2
Products Merged Into Single T-Number
Beginning in the H06.05 RVU, the Backup/Restore 2 products are merged into a single T-number,
T0744. When you use DSM/SCM to install the new SUT, the following screen will appear,
prompting you to select the products to retain:
