H06.11 Software Installation and Upgrade Guide

COBOL H06.08 and Later Fallback
Starting with the H06.08 RVU, the ECOBOL compiler provides new syntax to support dynamic
memory allocation. This new feature requires the H06.08 or later version of the COBOL Run-Time
Library; thus, applications that use the feature will not run on RVUs prior to H06.08 unless the
COBOL Run-Time Library (T0357AAC) is applied. This SPR is applicable only to H06.06 and
later RVUs. Applications using the new feature cannot be recompiled on RVUs prior to H06.08
unless the H06.08 version of the ECOBOL compiler (T0356AAK) is applied.
C H06.08 and Later Fallback
Beginning in the H06.08 RVU, the TNS/E C compiler (T8164ABH for c89, T0549AAE for CCOMP),
C Standard Headers (T8645H02), and the C run-time libraries (T8432H02 for the C Run-Time
Library, T1269H02 for CRE) provide a subset of new features from the new ISO/IEC 9899:1999
standard.
Applications that use the new run-time library features will not run on RVUs prior to H06.08
unless the new run-time library SPRs are applied. Applications that use the new compiler features
cannot be recompiled on RVUs prior to H06.08 unless the new C compiler SPRs and standard
header SPR are applied.
For descriptions of the new c99 standard features currently supported by the C compiler and
run-time library, see the C/C++ Programmer’s Guide.
C H06.09 and Later Fallback
Starting with the H06.09 RVU , the C++ Version 3 runtime library (ZCPP3DLL) is upgraded to
the latest release of the Dinkumware C++ runtime library in order to support the ISO/IEC IS
14882 language specification and to upgrade the exception handling mechanism in the H-series
C++ Version Neutral DLL (ZCPPDLL) for improved performance.
In the event of a fallback, applications compiled with the upgraded headers must be recompiled;
otherwise, they will not execute on the earlier RVU.
NonStop Secure Shell Server
NonStop Secure Shell (SSH) Server is a new product in the H06.11 RVU. NonStop SSH Server
provides secure communication between the MR-Win6530 terminal emulator (which replaces
OutsideView) and the NonStop server.
Migrating to SSH Server
NonStop SSH Server is an optional product, and must be set up for use with MR-Win6530. In
terms of network management, NonStop SSH Server uses port 22, so that port must be enabled
for NonStop SSH Server to work.
