H06.13 Release Version Update Compendium

the other enclosure in the pair connects to the Y-fabric p-switch. The PIC slot used must be the
same for both p-switches, and a V4SECG or V8SECG enclosure requires all four of the ports on
a PIC.
NOTE: Each pair of V4SECG or V8SECG enclosures require all four ports on a processor switch
PIC. Therefore, for each pair of V4SECG or V8SECG enclosures installed, the maximum number
of NonStop S-series I/O enclosures supported on the system is reduced by four. For example:
A NonStop NS5000CG server can have a maximum of 24 NonStop S-series I/O enclosures
if there are no V4SECG or V8SECG enclosures installed.
If one pair of V4SECG or V8SECG enclosures are installed, the NS5000CG server can have
a maximum of 20 NonStop S-series I/O enclosures, because one PIC on each p-switch is used
for the pair of V4SECG or V8SECG enclosures.
A NonStop NS5000CG server that has one to four NonStop S-series I/O enclosures (all
connected to the same p-switch PIC) can have a maximum of 5 pairs of V4SECG or V8SECG
enclosures, because the PIC in slot 4 of the p-switch is used for NonStop S-Series I/O enclosure
groups 11 through 14.
