Safeguard
New Features
Safeguard supports these enhancements for the H06.14 RVU:
• A variable-length TEXT-DESCRIPTION field in audit records. This field helps reduce the
disk space required for the Safeguard audit trail files.
• Filtering of audit records based on the Safeguard global configuration parameters
AUDIT-EXCLUDE-FIELD and AUDIT-EXCLUDE-VALUE. This prevents the records from
being logged into the audit trail files.
• Performance improvements.
Fallback Consideration
The Safeguard audit enhancements have changed only audit file records. The new variable-sized
audit record UserProfileExt1N is not recognized by the earlier SAFEART application or other
applications that read the audit files. As a result, the BINARY-DESCRIPTION,
RESET-TIMESTAMP, and TEXT-DESCRIPTION length and data fields are left out by these
applications because the old SAFEART/audit reading application fails to read these fields.
