H06.14 Software Installation and Upgrade Guide

About This Document
This guide describes:
Upgrading the initial H06.14 RVU through the use of site update tape (SUT) refreshes, if
necessary.
Falling back to a previous SYSnn.
Supported Release Version Updates (RVUs)
This manual supports the H06.14.00 RVU and all subsequent H06.14.nn RVURs unless otherwise
noted. Exceptions are called out in the text.
Intended Audience
This guide is written for operations staff and support personnel and requires a working knowledge
of Windows XP Professional, Windows 2003 Server, HP NonStop Open System Management
(OSM) Interface client and server components, system console software, the Distributed Systems
Management/Software Configuration Manager (DSM/SCM) Planner Interface, Target Interface
(ZPHITI), and ZPHIRNM applications.
New and Changed Information in This Edition
This edition (545778-003) contains these changes and additions:
“Check or Alter the CONFTEXT File Before Installing an H06.14 SUT ” (page 20) is updated
to reference the J06.nn Software Installation and Update Guide for NonStop NS2000 systems.
“Managing SWAN and SWAN 2 Concentrator Firmware” (page 36) is updated to reference
either the SWAN Concentrator Installation and Support Guide or the SWAN 2 Concentrator
Installation and Support Guide.
The former Migrating the DSM Tape Catalog and Ensuring Correct Tape Configuration Tables
section has been removed from “H06.14” (page 57) in Chapter 3.
“DSM Tape Catalog Migration” (page 56) has been rewritten and added to “H06.13”
(page 56) in Chapter 3.
A note to prevent overwriting the original inetd.conf file has been added to “Run the inetd
Process” (page 102) in Chapter 9.
“Configure the WAN Manager” (page 103) is updated to reference either the SWAN
Concentrator Installation and Support Guide or the SWAN 2 Concentrator Installation and
Support Guide.
“Updating SWAN Concentrator CLIP Firmware” (page 140) is updated to reference either the
SWAN Concentrator Installation and Support Guide or the SWAN 2 Concentrator Installation
and Support Guide.
New and Changed Information in Previous Editions
This 545778-002 edition contained these changes:
Migrating the DSM Tape Catalog and Ensuring Correct Tape Configuration Tables describes
the steps for ensuring existing configuration tables are in the system catalog.
An obsolete procedure for creating a recovery CD (Create an Emergency Repair Disk (ERD)
or Automated System Recovery (ASR) Disk) has been deleted.
