H06.14 Software Installation and Upgrade Guide

SIM, see the NonStop System Console Installer Guide. To enable SSL, see the OSM Migration
and Configuration Guide.
An advanced firmware update feature that simplifies firmware update procedures. This feature
should be used when:
Migrating an NS16000 to NS16200, or an NS14000 system to NS14200
Adding an NS16200 complex to an existing NS16000 system, or an NS14200 complex
to an existing NS14000 system
Installing a new NS16200 or NS14200 system
For more information on configuring and getting started with OSM, see the OSM Migration and
Configuration Guide.
Migration Alert
Starting with the H06.09 RVU, OSM no longer uses the User ID and Password to start monitoring
the Maintenance Switch and UPS. For more information, see “OSM Uses Different User ID and
Password to Monitor Maintenance Switch and UPS” (page 52)
OSM Client-Based Components
Like other system console software, the OSM client-based components are dual-threaded; that is,
they support both G-Series and H-series RVUs. For H06.14, the OSM SPRs are:
T0632G07^AAW(OSM Notification Director)
T0633G06^ABB (OSM Low-Level Link)
T0634G06^AAQ (OSM Console Tools)
Highlights include:
While dual-threaded, the OSM Low-Level Link has functionality specific to modular I/O and NonStop
NS-series systems, including:
A System Load dialog box, unique to NS-series systems, provides the ability to:
Load the system from an alternate system load configuration that was previously saved
on the system console. After a configuration is saved, you can load the system using
mirrored disks without reviving.
Save a system configuration on the system console for future use.
Exclude the Processor Element (PE) for a particular Blade Element from a reload operation,
so you can dump that PE before reintegration, while getting the rest of the system running
as quickly as possible.
Configure Module action, used to configure IOAM and processor switch modules, and VIO
enclosures
Power On System action (NS-series systems only)
Reset action for FCSA, G4SA, and Processor Switch plug-in card (PIC)
Starting with version T0633 AAT, the OSM Low-Level Link launches MR-Win6530 (instead of
OutsideView) for Startup TACL and Event Stream windows. For installation and migration
details, see the NonStop System Console Installer Guide.
OSM Notification Director, T0632G07^AAW, includes support for Secure Sockets Layer (SSL),
which is required for HP SIM support. To enable SSL, see the OSM Migration and Configuration
Guide.
OSM Console Tools, T0634AAN and later, provides a Terminal Emulator File Converter to convert
your OSM Low-Level Link-related OutsideView sessions to MR-Win6530 session files. For more
information, see the NonStop System Console Installer Guide.
