H06.14 Software Installation and Upgrade Guide

You can also check and update ME firmware using the OSM Low-Level Link. For more information,
see the OSM Low-Level Link online help.
Updating ME Firmware on an I/O Adapter Module (IOAM
There is maintenance entity (ME) firmware on the ServerNet Switch Board object in each I/O
Adapter Module of many NonStop NS-series systems. (Some NS-series systems now contain VIO
modules in place of IOAMs.)
NOTE: In the OSM Low-Level Link, a ServerNet Switch Board is represented as an ME object.
To use the OSM Service Connection to update the ME formware for IOAMs:
1. Locate the ServerNet Switch Board on one Internal ServerNet Fabric.
For NS5000 and NS16000 series systems: In the tree pane, select System > Group > >
IOAM Enclosure > IOAM > ServerNet Switch Board.
For NS1000, NS3000, and NS14000 systems that contain IOAMs: Select System >
Fabric Group > IOAM Enclosure > IOAM > ServerNet Switch Board
2. Right-click the ServerNet Switch Board object and select Actions.
3. In the Actions dialog box, select ME Firmware Update and click Perform Action.
4. Monitor the update.
5. Repeat for the IOAM switch on the other Internal ServerNet Fabric.
Updating Me Firmware on a VIO Module
There is Maintenance Entity (ME) firmware on the VIO Logic Board object in each VIO module in:
NS1200 and NS14200 systems (which have only VIO modules and not IOAMs)
NS1000, NS3000, and NS14000AC systems that have VIO modules in place of IOAMs
NS5000 and NS16000AC systems that have VIO modules in place of GESAs
NOTE: In the OSM Low-Level Link, a VIO logic board is represented as an IME object.
To use the OSM Service Connection to update the ME firmware for VIO modules:
1. Locate the VIO Logic Board:
For NS1000, NS1200, NS3000, and NS14000 series systems: In the tree pane, select
System > Fabric Group > Internal ServerNet Fabric > VIO Module > VIO Logic Board.
For NS5000 and NS16000AC systems: In the tree pane, select System > Group
nnn
>
VIO Module > VIO Logic Board
2. Right-click the VIO Logic Board object and select Actions.
3. In the Actions dialog box, select ME Firmware Update and click Perform Action.
4. Monitor the update.
5. Repeat for the VIO module in the other fabric.
Updating ME FPGA
Table 3 shows the current ME FPGA information for both processor switches and IOAMs, and for
VIO enclosures:
