H06.14 Software Installation and Upgrade Guide
For more information on the password quality enhancements, see the Password Quality
Enhancements support note.
Migration
There are no migration considerations specific to the quality password feature. However, a mitigation
procedure is available for handling any unexpected failures that might occur during migration.
This procedure is described under “Migration in a Safeguard Environment” (page 48).
Fallback
Embedded spaces in passwords are not supported in pre-H06.09 RVUs. Any user with a password
that contains embedded spaces will be unable to login after fallback. Fallback considerations are:
• Pre-H06.08 RVUs do not support the Safeguard longer password feature. Therefore, when
falling back to a pre-H06.08 RVU, users must first follow the steps described under “Fallback
in a Safeguard Environment” (page 48).
• When falling back to H06.08 or earlier:
The super ID password must not contain embedded blanks.◦
◦ PASSWORD-COMPATIBILITY-MODE must be set to ON.
◦ Users whose password contains embedded spaces must request a new password.
C H06.09 and Later Fallback
Starting with the H06.09 RVU , the C++ Version 3 runtime library (ZCPP3DLL) is upgraded to the
latest release of the Dinkumware C++ runtime library in order to support the ISO/IEC IS 14882
language specification and to upgrade the exception handling mechanism in the H-series C++
Version Neutral DLL (ZCPPDLL) for improved performance.
In the event of a fallback, applications compiled with the upgraded headers must be recompiled;
otherwise, they will not execute on the earlier RVU.
H06.10
NonStop SQL/MX 2.3 Interoperability and Installation
NonStop SQL/MX Release 2.3 is introduced in the H06.10 RVU. NonStop SQL/MX Release 2.3,
which has no G-series equivalent, provides this new functionality:
• Provides an online variant of the POPULATE INDEX and MODIFY utilities
• Generates modules files in Guardian directories
• Projects only the requested number of rows from the table instead of scanning the complete
table
• Introduces a new Control Query Default statement (CQD)
NonStop SQL/MX Release 2.3 is interoperable with compatible releases of NonStop SQL/MX.
Interoperability between G-series and H-series RVUs is supported by NonStop SQL/MX on H06.03
and later RVUs For more information about the interoperability of NonStop SQL/MX releases, see
the SQL/MX Database and Application Migration Guide.
If you have the H06.04 or later RVU on your system, you can install SQL/MX Release 2.3. For
installation information, see the SQL/MX Installation and Management Guide.
Installing NonStop SQL/MX Release 2.3
Check that the HP NonStop Transaction Management Facility (TMF) is configured and running on
the system node where you will install NonStop SQL/MX. See the TMF Planning and Configuration
Guide for TMF installation guidelines.
