H06.16 Software Installation and Upgrade Guide
◦ SWAN CLIPs
◦ Legacy S-series components supported in H-series RVUs
• Recent enhancements include system-level actions to:
Perform data sanitization◦
◦ Configure an NS16000–series system as a member of a BladeCluster
◦ Test incident report delivery paths for HP Insight Remote Support Advanced (which is an
alternative to using the OSM Notification Director for remote services)
• Support for using HP Systems Insight Manager (SIM) to help monitor your NonStop servers,
and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), which is required for HP SIM support. To install HP SIM, see
the NonStop System Console Installer Guide. To enable SSL, see the OSM Migration and
Configuration Guide.
• An advanced firmware update feature that simplifies firmware update procedures. This feature
should be used when:
◦ Migrating an NS16000 to NS16200, or an NS14000 system to NS14200
◦ Adding an NS16200 complex to an existing NS16000 system, or an NS14200 complex
to an existing NS14000 system
◦ Installing a new NS16200 or NS14200 system
For more information on configuring and getting started with OSM, see the OSM Migration and
Configuration Guide. For more information on using the OSM Service Connection, see the OSM
Service Connection User's Guide.
Migration Alert
Starting with the H06.09 RVU, OSM no longer uses the User ID and Password to start monitoring
the Maintenance Switch and UPS. For more information, see “OSM Uses Different User ID and
Password to Monitor Maintenance Switch and UPS” (page 49).
OSM Client-Based Components
OSM client-based component upgrades are delivered on the NonStop System Console Installer
DVD. HP recommends upgrading to the very latest console software available.
The OSM client-based products are:
• OSM Low-Level Link, which is used to provide down-system support, allowing you to
communicate with your HP NonStop server even when the NonStop Kernel operating system
is not running. In addition to performing the system loads, it is used to configure VIO and
other modules, configure CLIMs, and update CLIM software. For information on other features
and functionality, see the OSM Low-Level Link online help.
• OSM Console Tools, which includes these products:
OSM System Inventory Tool◦
◦ Terminal Emulator File Converter
◦ OSM Certificate Tool
◦ NonStop Maintenance LAN DHCP DNS Configuration Wizard (replaces the CLIM Boot
Service Configuration Wizard on NonStop System Console Installer DVD, Update 17
and later)
For more information, see the NonStop System Console Installer Guide.
