Cluster I/O Protocols (CIP) Supports New Features
Cluster I/O Protocols (CIP) introduces several new features for the H06.17 RVU:
• New options and features for climconfig commands:
— New -autonegotiation parameter for the climconfig interface -modify
command enables/disables autonegotiation for Ethernet interfaces.
— New fields in the climconfig interface -info display.
— New option, -endpoint, for the climconfig tunnel -interface command
specifies the address of the tunnel endpoint.
• The CLIMBKUP and CLIMRSTR commands now allow you to specify the file name and
volume, in addition to the subvolume, on which the backup file is stored.
• The CLIMCMD command now provides the option to display a list of supported LINUX
commands for a specified CLIM.
• You can now use the OSM Low-Level Link to update INS software on the CLIM.
For details on these new features, see the Cluster I/O Protocols (CIP) Configuration and Management
Manual.
CLuster I/O Module (CLIM) Software
These migration and fallback considerations exist for CLIM software and the H06.17 RVU:
Migration
When upgrading to a new RVU, make sure the RVU is compatible with the CLIM software you
are running.
Host system RVUs of H06.17 and later are not compatible with CLIM software SPRs from
pre-H06.17 RVUs. See Support Note S09039x for a CLIM and RVU compatibility matrix showing
the interoperability of CLIM SPRs and host system RVUs.
Multiple RVUs of a CLIM are allowed on a system as long as all CLIMs have CLIM RVUs that
are compatible with the host RVU.
See the Cluster I/O Protocols (CIP) Configuration and Management Manual for troubleshooting tips
about identifying an incompatibility in CLIM and host CIP software.
Fallback
Host system RVUs of H06.17 and later are not compatible with CLIM software SPRs released
with pre-H06.17 RVUs. You cannot fall back to a pre-H06.17 CLIM unless you also revert the
host system RVU to one that is compatible with the CLIM SPR. See Support Note S09039x for a
CLIM and RVU compatibility matrix showing the interoperability of CLIM SPRs and host system
RVUs.
