H06.17 Software Installation and Upgrade Guide

About This Document
This guide describes:
• Upgrading the initial H06.17 RVU through the use of site update tape (SUT) refreshes, if
necessary.
• Falling back to a previous SYSnn.

Supported Release Version Updates (RVUs)
This manual supports the H06.17.00 RVU and all subsequent H06.17.nn RVUs unless otherwise
noted. Exceptions are described in the text.
Intended Audience
This guide is written for operations staff and support personnel and requires a working knowledge
of Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2008, HP NonStop Open System Management
(OSM) Interface client and server components, system console software, NonStop Software
Essentials, DSM/SCM, Target Interface (ZPHITI), and ZPHIRNM applications.
New and Changed Information in This Edition
This edition contains these changes:
• Added references to Support Note SN 12023 (OSM application issues with Administrator
user on NSC).
• Corrections and enhancements made to “Falling Back on the CLIMs, Loading the Previous
RVU, and Resuming Normal Operations ” (page 131).
Changes are indicated by change bars.
New and Changed Information in Previous Editions
Change bars for previous editions have been retained in the current edition.
This edition 518661-009 contained these changes:
• Support for the DHCP DNS configuration wizard.
• Support for NonStop Software Essentials.
• Changes to privilege requirements for running SSOCLIM after RVU and CLIM fallback.
The edition 518661-008 contained these changes:
• The T9050AQM fallback SPR was changed to T9053AQM in Table 9 (page 62).
The 518661-007 edition contained these changes:
• A clarification to “AF_UNIX Release 2 Migration and Fallback” (page 55) was added.
The 518661-006 edition contained these changes:
• “Check or Alter the CONFTEXT File Before Installing This RVU SUT ” (page 22) is updated to
reference the J06.nn Software Installation and Update Guide for NonStop NS2000 systems.
• “Managing SWAN and SWAN 2 Concentrator Firmware” (page 34) is updated to reference
either the SWAN Concentrator Installation and Support Guide or the SWAN 2 Concentrator
Installation and Support Guide.
