About This Document This compendium provides categorized information about new features, migration issues, and fallback considerations for H06.19. It also includes references and sources for migration planning. Supported Release Version Updates (RVUs) This manual supports the H06.19 RVU only. Intended Audience This compendium is written for system managers or anyone who needs to understand how migrating to H06.
The guide provides information for migrating from a previous G-series, H-series, or J-series RVU to the current RVU. HP Encourages Your Comments HP encourages your comments concerning this document. 1 H06.19 Overview This chapter provides an overview of the H06.19 RVU. Major New Features Table 1-1 summarizes the main changes in H06.19. For descriptions of new features, see the appropriate chapters. Table 1-1 Summary of the H06.19 RVU Sections and Categories Major New Features Chapter 2: Operating System No new features in the H06.
Table 1-1 Summary of the H06.
• For an H-series overview, see Section 1 of the H06.
2 Operating System The H06.19 RVU contains no new features for operating system products.
3 Application Development Products Visual Inspect Visual Inspect now allows encrypting the username and password using 3DES-based encryption or decryption. Migration Considerations None. Fallback Considerations None.
4 Database and Transaction Processing Products NonStop SOAP 3.0 NonStop SOAP now supports context-free SOAP messages of up to 2 MB in size. Migration Considerations None. Fallback Considerations None. SQL/MX 2.3.3 The NonStop SQL/MX 2.3.3 release includes the following new features: • Large block support: This feature enables you to create objects of block size 32768 bytes (32 KB).
Migration Considerations The large block support feature (32 KB blocks) for NonStop SQL/MX tables requires a new revision of the HP NonStop Remote Database Facility (RDF, T0346). For systems running H06.19, the RDF version is compatible only with T0346H09^ACC and later SPRs of RDF. For more information, see the T0346 softdoc. For the H06.
5 Installation and Configuration Products The H06.19 RVU contains no new features for installation and configuration products.
6 Manageability Products Safeguard Enhancements Safeguard supports the following enhancements for the H06.19 RVU: • The Guardian File System Error Record is a new secondary audit record, generated by the Safeguard audit client, called the Guardian File System. This record is generated when diskfile operations, such as CREATE, OPEN, READ, PURGE, WRITE, and RENAME, return an error value greater than 0. The secondary text area type associated with this record is FSERROR.
• • For NS1000, NS1200, NS2000, NS3000, and NS5000 systems, creates new alarms and dialouts when there are too many Corrected Memory Errors (CMEs) and, in the repair action of an OSM alarm, identifies the DIMM or memory board that needs replacement. For BladeCluster support, the function of configuring switches for use in a BladeCluster has been moved from the OSM Low-Level Link to the Add Node to ServerNet Cluster guided procedure within the OSM Service Connection.
7 Hardware Products The H06.19 RVU contains no new features for hardware products.
8 Networking Products BladeCluster Solution The BladeCluster Solution is introduced with RVU H06.19 to support NonStop NS16000 series servers. It provides the capability to cluster these systems and topologies: • • • • • NonStop NS16000 series servers NonStop BladeSystems A mix of NonStop NS16000 series servers and NonStop BladeSystems Clustering with 6770/6780 NonStop ServerNet clusters.
iTP WebServer iTP Secure WebServer 7.0 is enhanced with the following features: • • iTP Secure WebServer now supports the IPv6 addressing format. The keyadmin utility of the iTP Secure WebServer now allows the import or export of individual private keys. Migration Considerations None. Fallback Considerations None.
A Sources for Migration Assistance and Information This appendix describes the assistance HP provides when problems arise during the migration and testing process. HP also provides services that can help you develop a migration plan and implement migration tasks. Most migration and release documentation is available through the HP NonStop Technical Library (NTL).
• Outage Prevention Notifications, Hotstuff messages, and Support Notes • Prerequisites for an SPR • Available SUTs and Independent Products After researching available SPRs, you can download those you consider appropriate for your systems directly to your workstation, or you can request tape delivery.
