BladeCluster Solution
The BladeCluster Solution is introduced with RVU H06.19 to support NonStop NS16000 series
servers. It provides the capability to cluster these systems and topologies:
NonStop NS16000 series servers
NonStop BladeSystems
A mix of NonStop NS16000 series servers and NonStop BladeSystems
Clustering with 6770/6780 NonStop ServerNet clusters.
Clustering with NonStop S-Series servers and NonStop NS14000 series servers through
6770/6780 NonStop ServerNet clusters
Nodes are directly connected via quad MMF PICs in the p-switches and the ServerNet switches
in the c7000 enclosures using ServerNet 3, the third-generation of the ServerNet interconnect.
For more information about the BladeCluster Solution, including planning requirements and
installation procedures, refer to the BladeCluster Solution Release 1.1 Manual.
Migration Considerations
Hardware Requirements:
— Two Advanced Cluster Hubs must be installed for fiber-optic connections.
— For NonStop NS16000 series systems, quad MMF PICs must be installed in slots seven
and nine of both p-switches.
— For NonStop BladeSystems, two ServerNet switches must be upgraded with all optical
transceivers.
Software Requirements:
All NonStop NS16000 series systems in a BladeCluster Solution must be running H06.14
or later H-series RVUs.
— All NonStop BladeSystem nodes in a BladeCluster Solution must be running J06.04 or
later J-series RVUs.
— For a complete list of software and firmware requirements, refer to the BladeCluster
Solution Release 1.1 Manual.
Fallback Considerations
Refer to the BladeCluster Solution Release 1.1 Manual for fallback topics specific to removing a
node, falling back to a previous RVU, and falling back for SPRs.
CLIM Time is Now Synchronized With NonStop Host Time
The time on the CLIM is now synchronized with the time on the NonStop host. CLIMs now run
with the local time of the NonStop host. Having these clocks synchronized aids in correlating
events that occur in the NonStop host with events that occur on the CLIM. This is especially
useful in debugging situations.
Migration Considerations
None.
Fallback Considerations
