Using DSM/SCM and NonStop Software Essentials With This RVU
NonStop Software Essentials and This RVU
The HP NonStop Software Essentials product is a software installation and management tool for
all NonStop servers running H-series RVUs as of H06.09. NonStop Software Essentials uses
DSM/SCM server software and provides a replacement for DSM/SCM Planner Interface functions
as well as certain Host Maintenance Interface functions that is more secure, easier to use, and
overcomes other shortcomings of DSM/SCM. It coexists with DSM/SCM; you can use either
NonStop Software Essentials or the DSM/SCM Planner Interface for tasks in which there is
overlapping functionality. For more information, see the NonStop Software Essentials Installation
and Quick Start Guide and NonStop Software Essentials User's Guide.
NonStop Software Essentials is first released in H06.24 and available by SPRs for RVUs H06.09
through H06.23.
DSM/SCM and This RVU
• The DSM/SCM H02 PVU (T6031H02) is supported.
• A new type of hardware platform and selectable option, TNS/E, has been added to the
Planner Interface (PI) screens. See the DSM/SCM User’s Guide for configuration information.
• By default, the DSM/SCM H02 PVU is configured to manage OSS files. Check that OSS is
configured and started if DSM/SCM is set to manage OSS files. If not, the Apply can fail.
• CNFGINFO supports new system generation options for dynamic-link libraries (DLLs).
• Creating a SIT is not supported in H-series RVUs.
• Similar to G-series RVUs, you might have to update both the client and server-side SPRs. The
PI screen displays G02/H02 for the client side and H02 for the server side.
