H06.20 Software Installation and Upgrade Guide

The 608002-004 edition contained a change to Step 3 in “Complete CLIM Setup” (page 155) for
the need to reboot Storage CLIMs after executing the clearlog command.
The 608002-003 edition contained these changes:
“Check or Alter the CONFTEXT File Before Installing This RVU SUT ” (page 23) is updated to
reference the J06.nn Software Installation and Update Guide for NonStop NS2000 systems.
“Managing SWAN and SWAN 2 Concentrator Firmware” (page 36) is updated to reference
either the SWAN Concentrator Installation and Support Guide or the SWAN 2 Concentrator
Installation and Support Guide.
Duplicate information has been removed from “Installation, Migration, and Fallback
Considerations” (page 38).
“DSM Tape Catalog Migration” (page 56) has been added to “H06.13” (page 56) in Chapter
3.
“DSM/SCM Upgrade Issues/Interoperability SPR Requirements” (page 60) has been added
to “H06.18” (page 60) in Chapter 3.
“Configure the WAN Manager” (page 124) is updated to reference either the SWAN
Concentrator Installation and Support Guide or the SWAN 2 Concentrator Installation and
Support Guide.
“Complete CLIM Setup” (page 155) is updated for falling back to either the H06.20 RVU or
the H06.19 RVU (or earlier RVUs.)
“Updating SWAN Concentrator CLIP Firmware” (page 194) is updated to reference either the
SWAN Concentrator Installation and Support Guide or the SWAN 2 Concentrator Installation
and Support Guide.
The 608002-002 edition contained the following changes to clarify CLIM software upgrade:
“Installation, Migration, and Fallback Considerations” (page 38) was changed to correct the
CLIM interoperability issues that apply to H06.16 and H06.17 and later H-series RVUs.
“Upgrade Checklist” (page 62) has been changed to eliminate a CLIM reboot step after the
software upgrade step because the reboot occurs during the software update procedure itself
and was therefore redundant as a separate step in the checklist. This section also mentions
that for H06.17 and later RVUs, the CLIMs can be updated online, in advance of the RVU
software installation, and that the steps must be performed in order. Finally, the contingency
that you may have already performed the CLIM software upgrade online before beginning
the RVU upgrade is accounted for in the steps.
“Loading This RVU” (page 110) was reorganized to make it clear that for an offline upgrade
of CLIMs, you perform the CLIM software upgrade while the processors are halted. As part
of this clarification, “4. (Optional) Upgrade the CLIM Software” (page 113) was made into a
separate step.
Additionally, a change was also made to “H06.20” (page 61).
