H06.20 Software Installation and Upgrade Guide

NOTE: HP recommends that you reset and reintegrate each NonStop Blade Element
one at a time. (The Reset action power cycles the NonStop Blade Element.) Resetting all
NonStop Blade Elements at the same time will take four processors offline.
Do not manually power cycle the processors. Doing so will leave the NonStop Blade
Elements and NonStop Blade Complex in an incomplete state.
The shadow firmware image that has been updated is now the running flash image. The
previous running image is now the shadow image.
d. Repeat steps a. through c. to update the new shadow image on all NonStop Blade
Elements or one NonStop Blade Element at a time until all the NonStop Blade Elements
are done.
e. Repeat steps a. through d. for the other NonStop Blade Complexes.
Managing ServerNet Adapter Firmware
This manual covers only the ServerNet adapters supported on H06.14 and later RVUs:
Fibre Channel ServerNet adapter (FCSA)
Gigabit Ethernet 4-port ServerNet adapter (G4SA)
Token Ring ServerNet adapter (TRSA)
6763 Common Communication ServerNet Adapter (CCSA)
To update firmware for ServerNet adapters connected to legacy IOMF2 CRUs, see the latest
G-series Software Installation and Upgrade Guide.
NOTE: Before connecting your system to a NonStop S-series system through legacy I/O, you
must first update the firmware for both the S-series Gigabit 4-port ServerNet adapter (G4SA) and
the Fibre Channel ServerNet adapter (FCSA). Firmware for both the G4SA and FCSA adapters
used for S-series systems is not initially compatible with other NonStop systems.
If you have a NonStop S-series system that is connected to the your system via Expand or ServerNet
Clusters, you do not need to initialize the G4SA or FCSA firmware.
To see if the ServerNet adapter firmware needs to be updated, navigate down the OSM tree pane
for FCSA and G4SA:
CAUTION: Ensure that the system is running this new RVU before starting this procedure.
FCSA. The FCSA has two ports that allow connection to external fibre-channel-enabled devices.
You might need to update these firmware files using either SCF or OSM.
The flash boot firmware (T0630G06) contains version information about the boot firmware
located in the FCSA FLASH memory. The boot firmware runs on every FCSA after power
