About This Document This compendium provides categorized information about new features, migration issues, and fallback considerations for H06.22. It also includes references and sources for migration planning. Supported Release Version Updates (RVUs) This manual supports the H06.22 RVU only. Intended Audience This compendium is written for system managers or anyone who needs to understand how migrating to H06.
Include the document title, part number, and any comment, error found, or suggestion for improvement you have concerning this document.
1 H06.22 Overview This chapter provides an overview of the H06.22 RVU. Major New Features Table 1 summarizes the main changes in H06.22. For descriptions of new features, see the appropriate chapters. Table 1 Summary of the H06.
Table 1 Summary of the H06.22 RVU (continued) Sections and Categories Major New Features Migration Alerts Fallback Alerts X X X X Chapter 6: Manageability • “HPMS OSM ACL Enhancements” (page 15) Products HPMS OSM ACLs enable customers to supply access control lists for OSM so they can open up or close down use of some OSM actions to different sets of users. • “Safeguard V4R11 Enhancements” (page 15) Includes new attributes with expanded security capabilities and other enhancements.
No products are removed from the SUT at H06.22. For recent product removal information, see the Discontinuation Notices at http:// h20223.www2.hp.com/NonStopComputing/cache/77208-0-0-225-121.aspx. Preparation, Planning, and Migration • If you are migrating from a G-series to an H-series RVU, before you begin migrating applications, contact your HP representative to analyze your applications and identify specific modules and program components that require changes for migration to an H-series RVU.
2 Operating System OSS File Privileges (Safeguard V4R11) • OSS Filesets have a new attribute, RESTRICTEDACCESS, that, when set, restricts the access privileges of the super ID. When accessing a file in a restricted-access fileset, the super ID (255,255 in the Guardian environment, 65535 in the OSS environment) is restricted by the same file permissions and owner privileges as any other user ID: It has no special privileges unless the executable file started by the super ID has the PRIVSETID file privilege.
3 Application Development Products OSS FLOSS HP introduces support for Freeware Look for OSS (FLOSS). FLOSS is a set of commands and libraries that aid in porting packages to NonStop systems. The FLOSS package is required only if you are porting a software package to NonStop systems. See the FLOSS on NonStop User Manual for more information. Migration Considerations Installation of one version overwrites the previous version installed on the system.
4 Database and Transaction Processing Products Enscribe64 Partitions As of the H06.22 RVU, a new Enscribe file type, enhanced key-sequenced (EKS) file, is introduced and extends the Enscribe partition maximum to 64. An EKS file supports 17 to 64 partitions and is for format 2 files only. The previous Enscribe key-sequenced file type supports 1 to 16 partitions on format 1 and 2 files and is referred to as a classic key-sequenced file in the Enscribe documentation.
TMF Enhancements The following PIOBUFFER parameters of the ALTER TMF command are enhanced: • maxpiosperbuffer – It can be set to dynamic so that TMF can adjust the maxpiosperbuffer value based on the message packet activity. To use the dynamic feature, you can either set maxpiosperbuffer to -1 or use the keyword Dynamic. • piodelaytimer – The value of piodelaytimer, in microseconds, is rounded up to the nearest millisecond. Migration Considerations None. Fallback Considerations None.
5 Installation and Configuration Products The H06.22 RVU contains no new features for installation and configuration products.
6 Manageability Products HPMS OSM ACL Enhancements OSM Service Connection (T0682H02^ACJ) adds support for: • Controlling user privileges for performing OSM actions through the new Access Control List feature in the OSM Service Connection. Migration Considerations None. Fallback Considerations None.
The startup parameter for processes $ZSSP0 and $ZSSP1 has been modified in the ZSSHGP file for SPR T0801^AAS, and now points to configuration file SSHMCFG instead of SSHCFG in the ADD process section and a new ALTER process section. Migration Considerations If the original SSHCFG file is used for SSH2 processes configured for non-maintenance LANs, this file will be overwritten with the installation of H06.22. A backup should be kept for fallback purposes.
7 Hardware Products G6 CLIMs and New SAS Disk Enclosures (commercial versions) HP introduces support for next-generation CLIMs and storage devices on NonStop NS16000 series systems. The new CLIMs and storage devices require H06.17 or later. The next generation ServerNet based I/O Adapter is an HP Proliant DL380 server with the Intel Xeon 5500 processor family architecture.
◦ Field upgradeable firmware ◦ Supports up to 12 dual-ported 146 GB 15k rpm 3.5” SAS disk drives • If you upgrade from G5 to G6 Storage CLIMs and keep the M8390-12 CG disk enclosure, you must purchase new SAS cables. • Daisy chaining is not supported for new devices. If users move storage devices from G5 to G6 CLIMs, they must reconfigure them without daisy chaining. Fallback Considerations The new devices require H06.17.
8 Networking Products iTP WebServer 7.3 Enhancements New features in iTP WebServer 7.3 are: • Name-based virtual hosting • New MIME types to support Java scripts and Cascaded Style Sheets • A CGI library compiled using neutral floating point Migration Considerations None. Fallback Considerations None. SSOCLIM Script As of H06.22, the SSOCLIM script run during a re-image of the CLuster I/O Module (CLIM) no longer requires SUPER.SUPER access. Now, any SUPER group user can run SSOCLIM.
Migration Considerations None. Fallback Considerations None. OSS Samba for NonStop HP introduces support for Samba on NonStop. The Samba on NonStop (NonStop Samba) is a port of Samba, the free software re-implementation of the SMB/CIFS networking protocol, on the NonStop systems. It provides file services to Microsoft Windows clients, enabling seamless access to the shared portions of the NonStop OSS file-system. For more information, see the Samba on NonStop User Manual.
A Sources for Migration Assistance and Information This appendix describes the assistance HP provides when problems arise during the migration and testing process. HP also provides services that can help you develop a migration plan and implement migration tasks. Most migration and release documentation is available through the HP NonStop Technical Library (NTL).
By providing access to a data warehouse with SPR information for many different RVUs, Scout makes SPR analysis fast, easy, and accurate.
