G6 CLIMs and New SAS Disk Enclosures (commercial versions)
HP introduces support for next-generation CLIMs and storage devices on NonStop NS16000 series
systems.
The new CLIMs and storage devices require H06.17 or later.
The next generation ServerNet based I/O Adapter is an HP Proliant DL380 server with the Intel
Xeon 5500 processor family architecture. The new CLIM product has these features:
• Improved energy efficiency
• Dedicated integrated memory controller to each processor
• Double memory bandwidth to 1333MHz
• DDR-3 memory with address parity detection
• Embedded internal disk controller
• Double number of embedded NIC to 4
• RAID-1 mirrored Debian OS disk drives
• 6Gb SAS interface
• 8Gb FC interface
New storage devices compatible with the CLIM:
• HP D2700 commercial disk enclosure
◦ 6Gb SAS host interface
– 4x wide 6Gb/s per port
– SFF-8088 port
◦ 6Gb SAS backplane
◦ 25, 2.5” disk drives bays
◦ Dual SAS domains
◦ Redundant power supplies and fans
◦ Field upgradeable firmware
◦ Supports new 6Gb SAS disk drives and the currently shipping 3Gb, 2.5” SAS disk drives
Configurations are similar to G5 CLIM configurations. Ask your HP service provider refer to the
NonStop CLuster I/O Module (CLIM) Installation and Configuration Guide for more information.
Migration Considerations
• Except for the M8390-12T, the previous storage devices only work with G5 CLIMs and the
new storage devices only work with G6 CLIMs. All hardware can reside in the same rack as
long as it is connected to the appropriate CLIM.
The M8390–12T SAS disk enclosure has these features:
