Hard Disk Drive (HDD) Partitioning
Disk partitioning is now supported on (HDDs) that connect to DL380 G6 Storage CLIMs. HDD
partitioning is enabled on a per-HDD basis.
Disk partitioning requires the H06.23 or later H-series RVU.
For more information, refer to the planning guide for your system and the SCF Reference Manual
for the Storage Subsystem.
Migration Considerations
None.
Fallback Considerations
See the planning guide for your system for information about the CLIMs and storage devices. Disk
partitioning requires the H06.23 or later H-series RVU. If you must fall back to an earlier RVU, you
cannot partition HDDs.
IB CLIM
HP introduces support for the IB CLIM, an HP Proliant DL380 G6 server which provides InfiniBand
and Ethernet connectivity from NonStop systems to InfiniBand (IB) and Ethernet networks, on a
controlled availability basis. IB CLIMs are supported on NonStop NS16000 and NonStop NS16200
systems.
The IB CLIM is part of a Low Latency Solution architecture which provides, via the IB network, a
high speed and low latency messaging system for stock exchange trading from the incoming trade
server to the NonStop operating system. The solution includes software for messaging and order
sequencing.
NOTE: IB CLIMs do not provide general purpose IB connectivity for NonStop systems and are
only used as part of a Low Latency Solution.
The IB CLIM has these features:
• A dual-ported IB Host Channel Adapter (HCA) for InfiniBand connectivity
• Three Ethernet interfaces for connecting to customer data LAN(s), and one additional interface
dedicated to the maintenance LAN
For more information about the IB CLIM, refer to the planning guide for your system.
Migration Considerations
• IB CLIMs are supported on the H06.23 or later RVUs.
• IB CLIMs require the H06.23 or later CLIM DVD.
• IB CLIMs can co-exist with other types of CLIMs on the same NonStop system.
Fallback Considerations
IB CLIMs are not supported on RVUs prior to H06.23.
