H06.24 Software Installation and Upgrade Guide

DSM/SCM and This RVU
CAUTION: Before you install the SUT, you must copy the SUT versions of the DSM/SCM server
and client products to your host system. When you copy the server and client SPRs for DSM/SCM,
you must also upgrade the SWID product (T9298H02) at the same time to avoid a fingerprint or
mismatched file problem. If you are upgrading DSM/SCM paired with NonStop Software Essentials,
see “Copying the DSM/SCM, NonStop Software Essentials, and SWID SPRs from the SUT Using
NonStop Software Essentials” (page 167) for the detailed instructions. If you are upgrading
DSM/SCM paired with the Planner Interface, see “Installing SWID, DSM/SCM PVU, and Planner
Interface (PI) Client Software ” (page 176) for the detailed instructions.
The DSM/SCM H02 PVU (T6031H02) is supported.
A new type of hardware platform and selectable option, TNS/E, has been added to the
Planner Interface (PI) screens. See the DSM/SCM User’s Guide for configuration information.
By default, the DSM/SCM H02 PVU is configured to manage OSS files. Check that OSS is
configured and started if DSM/SCM is set to manage OSS files. If not, the Apply can fail.
CNFGINFO supports new system generation options for dynamic-link libraries (DLLs).
Creating a SIT is not supported in H-series RVUs.
Similar to G-series RVUs, you might have to update both the client and server-side SPRs. The
PI screen displays G02/H02 for the client side and H02 for the server side.
As of G06.27, you can manage an H-series target system from a G-series host system.
PLINSTL SPR
WARNING! When a DSM/SCM Build/Apply for the H06.24 RVU occurs on a TNS/E system
that is running H06.23 or an earlier H-series RVU, a PLINSTL warning similar to the following might
be seen for the initial adjustment of each new 64-bit Y*DLL file:
**** WARNING **** [1668]:
Using \node.$SYSTEM.SYSnn.ZIMPIMP, even though it does not have
the desired data model
Even though it does not have the desired data model, PLINSTL uses \node.$SYSTEM.SYSnn.ZIMPIMP
and makes two passes over the DLLs. The warning is issued because the first pass used the current
ZIMPIMP of the system. The actual rebinding of references occurs in the second pass, using the
version of ZIMPIMP that DSM/SCM passed as command-line input to PLINSTL. This pass produces
the correct output. (On a TNS/R system, the first pass uses no ZIMPIMP; therefore, it produces no
warnings.) To prevent the PLINSTL warning from being issued, install the T2812H01^AAC SPR
after the SUT is put in the configuration but before the DSM/SCM Build and Apply is performed.
DSM/SCM runs the version of PLINSTL that is in the new revision, not the version that is currently
installed on the system where the build is being performed.
For information about installing the SPR using DSM/SCM, see “Using DSM/SCM With NonStop
Software Essentials to Install SPRs” (page 153) and “Using DSM/SCM With the Planner Interface
to Install SPRs” (page 160).
