H06.28 Release Version Update Compendium
2 Operating System
OSS Core Utilities
The Open System Services (OSS) Core Utilities product (T1202 version H01AAC) introduces the
following new features:
• GNU findutils, consisting of: find, locate, updatedb, and xargs.
• GNU grep utility.
For information about the OSS Core Utilities, see the “OSS Core Utilities User Commands” appendix
in the Open System Services User’s Guide.
Migration Considerations
The OSS Core Utilities (T1202) can coexist with the Open System Services utilities (OSSUTIL T8626).
For detailed usage considerations, see the “OSS Core Utilities User Commands” appendix in the
Open System Services User’s Guide.
Fallback Considerations
To retain any customization done for system-wide or user-specific configuration files pertaining to
various utilities, back up the configuration files before falling back to an earlier RVU and then
restore them.
OSS Script Languages
OSS Script Languages includes a NonStop port of Python version 2.7.5. For information about
the Script Languages, see the Script Languages User Guide.
Migration Considerations
None. For information about the Script Languages, see the Script Languages User Guide.
Fallback Considerations
The Python script language is not available for systems running H06.27 or earlier H-series RVUs.
OSS Message Queue Limits
The System V message queue limits have been increased to be compatible with industry
implementations. Message Queue Server defaults and maximum values have increased for the
number of OSS message queue IDs, the number of messages, the number of bytes per message,
and the number of bytes in a message queue. For information about the OSS message queue
server, see the Open System Services Management and Operation Guide.
Migration Considerations
None. If an application requires increased limits of the message queue server, use OSS Monitor
SCF commands to modify the message queue server parameters.
Fallback Considerations
None. When falling back to a previous RVU, OSS Monitor automatically changes the parameters
to valid values.
