Measure
Changes for NonStop Multicore Architecture (NSMA)
Beginning with the J06.03 RVU, Measure, the performance examiner product of the NonStop
systems, supports the new multi-core processors. Measure’s CPU entity reports the cores, also
referred to as Instruction Processing Units (IPUs), that comprise the logical CPU. Changes are:
• The results of the STATUS MEASSUBSYS command reflect the increase in number of Measure
Interrupt Processes (MEASIPs) on an SMP.
• The CPU and PROCESS entities are changed.
• The CPU entity has a new id field (IPUS) and new counters, IPU-Busy-Time, IPU-Qtime,
and IPU-Dispatches, supporting a maximum of 16 IPUs per CPU. The CPU entity report
has a subsection for every IPU that makes up the logical CPU. The IPU-level counters are
collected and reported along with CPU counters, so no new explicit configuration is necessary
for that purpose. The DDL record format and fields show the characteristics of the IPUs.
• New or changed ZMSCPU record fields are: IPUS, IPU-BUSY-TIME, IPU-QTIME,
IPU-DISPATCHES, CPU-BUSY-TIME, PROCESSH-SAMPLES.
• The PROCESS entity has a new id field (IPUS) and one new counter: IPU-SWITCHES.
• New or changed ZMSPROC record fields are: IPUS, IPU-SWITCHES.
Open System Management (OSM)
Open System Management (OSM) has been enhanced to add support for the new hardware
products that ship with the J06.03 RVU.
OSM Server
The OSM Service Connection Suite, T0682 H02 ABI, provides support for the components of a
NonStop BladeSystem, including:
• HP BladeSystem c-Class Enclosure
— Processor Blade
◦ Memory Card
◦ ServerNet Interface Card
— Logical Processor
— ServerNet Switch
◦ Port
– Fiber
The Onboard Administrator (OA), which provides additional management functionality for
blade enclosures, can be launched from the OSM Service Connection. The Integrated Lights Out
(iLO) interface for processor blades can also be launched from the OSM Service Connection.
For more information, see the OSM Service Connection User's Guide (also available as online help
within the application).
OSM Client Components
Installed on system consoles as part of the NonStop System Console Software, enhancements
specifically for the J06.03 RVU include:
• The OSM Low-Level Link, T0633G07^ABB, provides support for the components of a
NonStop BladeSystem, including discovery and configuration of ServerNet switches and
