CLuster I/O Module (CLIM)
The CLuster I/O Module (CLIM) is introduced in the J06.04 RVU. CLIM is a rack-mounted HP
ProLiant class server that provides connectivity between the NonStop host system and either
the network or storage devices. Six CLIMs are available for the J06.04 RVU:
• IP CLIM
• IP CLIM CG
• Storage CLIM
• Storage CLIM CG
• Telco CLIM
• Telco CLIM CG
The IP CLIM provides Ethernet connectivity to the network and performs the IP protocol
processing previously done in the NonStop host system. The Storage CLIM provides fiber and
Serial-Attached SCSI (SAS) connectivity to storage devices and also performs some storage
management tasks previously done on the NonStop host system. The Telco CLIM provides
processing for the telecommunications protocol IETF SIGTRAN (M3UA) in the CLIM.
On the NonStop BladeSystem, the IP CLIM supports SWAN concentrators (1 and 2). The Storage
CLIM supports SAS disks and StorageWorks XP Array disks as well as DAT, SAS and Fibre
Channel tapes. The IP CLIM and the Storage CLIM can be used together in lieu of IOAME, FCSA
and G4SA.
On the NonStop Carrier Grade BladeSystem, Storage CLIM supports connection to SAS disks
and StorageWorks XP Array disks. The Telco CLIM CG, IP CLIM CG, and Storage CLIM CG can
be used in the NonStop Carrier Grade BladeSystem.
For more information about the commercial system versions of these components, see the HP
Integrity NonStop BladeSystem Planning Guide. For information about the carrier-grade system
versions of these components, contact your support provider.
HP Integrity NonStop NB50000c BladeSystem Support for CLuster I/O
Module (CLIM)
The NonStop NB50000c BladeSystem, introduced in the J06.03 RVU, now implements a new I/O
infrastructure using CLuster I/O Modules (CLIMs). The CLIM, an HP ProLiant class server, runs
the Linux operating system and provides the physical interface to the network or storage devices.
The NonStop NB50000c BladeSystem also supports IOAM enclosures, which can co-exist with
CLIMs.
The characteristics of NB50000c BladeSystem CLIM support include:
