Cluster I/O Protocols (CIP)
Cluster I/O Protocols (CIP) is a new I/O subsystem beginning support with J06.04. CIP has a new
Subsystem Control Facility (SCF) product module as well as a TACL command line interface
that together provide a management interface for I/O protocol configuration. The subsystem
supports new networking features such as IP Security (IPSec), TCP/IP, and SCTP (a Telco
streaming protocol).
CIP works with the CLuster I/O Module (CLIM), which performs some of the I/O protocol
processing previously done in the NonStop host system. In addition to networking protocol
support, the CIP subsystem also provides connectivity support for a Storage CLuster I/O Module
(CLIM) and a Telco CLIM.
For information about migration and compatibility with previous NonStop networking products,
see the Cluster I/O Protocols (CIP) Configuration and Management Manual.
BladeSystem Nodes in ServerNet Clusters
NonStop BladeSystems can be members (or nodes) of a ServerNet cluster, and are supported in
both star and layered topologies.
In order for other NonStop servers to co-exist in the same ServerNet cluster with a NonStop
BladeSystem:
• NonStop NS-series servers must have SANMAN, T0502AAW (or later) and SNETMON,
T0294AAW (or later).
• NonStop S-series servers must have SANMAN, T0502AAX (or later) and SNETMON,
T0294AAX (or later).
For more information, see the ServerNet Cluster Supplement for NonStop BladeSystems .
Expand
The new CIP I/O subsystem supports Expand. This support includes a CIPSAM process for
Cluster I/O Protocols.
