J06.04 Software Installation and Upgrade Guide

System Console Requirements
A system console is an HP-approved personal computer used to run maintenance and diagnostic
software for NonStop S-series and NonStop NS-series servers. New system consoles run one of
the following: Windows XP Professional with service pack 2 or Microsoft Windows Server 2003
with service pack 2, and are preconfigured with the required HP and third-party software, including
OSM. The DSM/SCM client is also installed and configured.
Updating System Consoles (Optional) S7X-SWV2/HNSC-SWV2, Update 5
If you have ordered new system consoles for J06.04, the latest client-side software is already
installed. If not, the J06.04 RVU requires the HP NonStop System Console (NSC) Installer DVD,
S7X-SWV2/HNSC-SWV2, Update 5. See the NonStop System Console Installer Guide for detailed
information on installing the system console software. If you are using a PC other than a system
console for DSM/SCM tasks, you must download the DSM/SCM client and install it separately (it
is not included on the installer DVD).
If you are migrating a G-series legacy system console to use OSM, certain client-side system
requirements must be met. See the NonStop System Console Installer Guide and the OSM Migration
and Configuration Guide for PC system requirements and information on migrating to OSM.
See the NonStop System Console Installer Guide for the software versions of the products provided
by S7X-SWV2/HNSC-SWV2, Update 5.
Using OSM With the J06.04 RVU
OSM Server-Based Components
For J06.04, the server-based OSM SPR is T0682H02^ABN.
NOTE: Beginning with T0682H02^AAZ, the OSM Service Connection Suite requires you to
install JRE version 1.5.0_11. This version is incompatible with OSM server versions older than
T0682H02^AAY (for NS-series servers) and T0682H02^AAV (for S-series servers). Therefore, all
S-series and NS-series servers also managed by this console must be running one of those OSM
server versions or later.
Highlights for OSM support of NonStop BladeSystems include:
Guided procedures for replacing IOAM components. OSM also provides documented service
procedures for replacing Fibre Channel disk module (FCDM) components.
Firmware updates for:
c7000 enclosure firmware
Maintenance Entity (ME) firmware on ServerNet Switch Boards, located in IOAMs
Fibre Channel ServerNet adapter (FCSA)
Gigabit 4-port ServerNet adapter (G4SA), located under the G4SA SAC object
Fibre Channel disk drives and Environmental Monitoring Units (EMUs), located within
FCDMs
SWAN CLIPs
Legacy S-series components supported in H-series and J-series (Carrier Grade systems
only) RVUs
Support for using HP Systems Insight Manager (SIM) to help monitor your NonStop
BladeSystems, and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), which is required for HP SIM support. To install
HP SIM, see the NonStop System Console Installer Guide. To enable SSL, see the OSM
Migration and Configuration Guide.
