J06.04 Software Installation and Upgrade Guide

About This Document
This guide describes:
• Upgrading the initial J06.04 RVU through the use of site update tape (SUT) refreshes, if
necessary.
• Falling back to a previous SYSnn.
Supported Release Version Updates (RVUs)
This manual supports the J06.04.00 RVU and all subsequent J06.04.nn RVURs unless otherwise
noted.
Intended Audience
This guide is written for operations staff and support personnel and requires a working knowledge
of Windows XP Professional, Windows 2003 Server, HP NonStop Open System Management
(OSM) Interface client and server components, system console software, the Distributed Systems
Management/Software Configuration Manager (DSM/SCM) Planner Interface, Target Interface
(ZPHITI), and ZPHIRNM applications.
New and Changed Information in This Edition
This edition (545780-002) contains the following changes and additions:
• “CLuster I/O Module (CLIM) Software on DVD” (page 12) has been added to Chapter 1.
• “Managing SWAN and SWAN 2 Concentrator Firmware” (page 23) is updated to reference
either the SWAN Concentrator Installation and Support Guide or the SWAN 2 Concentrator
Installation and Support Guide.
• “Configure the WAN Manager” (page 73) is updated to reference the WAN Subsystem
Configuration and Management Manual and either the SWAN Concentrator Installation and
Support Guide or the SWAN 2 Concentrator Installation and Support Guide.
• A note to prevent overwriting the original inetd.conf file has been added to “Run the inetd
Process” (page 72) in Chapter 9.
• In “ Installing SWID, DSM/SCM PVU, and Planner Interface (PI) Client Software ” (page 94),
the former Create an Emergency Repair Disk (ERD) or Automated System Recovery (ASR) Disk
section is deleted.
• In “Updating SWAN Concentrator CLIP Firmware” (page 109), the former procedural information
is deleted and replaced with references to either the SWAN Concentrator Installation and
Support Guide or the SWAN 2 Concentrator Installation and Support Guide.
What This Guide Does Not Cover
• Changes from G-series RVUs. Differences between G-series and J-series RVUs are the same
as for H-series RVUs. For information on differences between G-series and H-series RVUs, see

• System migration planning. System-wide issues involved in migrating to the latest J-series RVU
