DNS Server Can Run on a CLIM
As of J06.07, you can have the CLIM provide the Domain Name Server (DNS) in addition to the
DHCP, TFTP, and BOOTP services, instead of having the NonStop System Console provide these
services. One of the advantages of configuring CLIMs to run DHCP, DNS, and BOOTP services
is that consoles do not need to have BOOTP and TFTP configured. If your security auditors
require that BOOTP and TFTP not be run on the console, you can move these services (along
with DHCP and DNS) to the CLIMs.
One of the advantages of configuring CLIMs (instead of the NonStop consoles) to run DHCP,

If your security auditors require that BOOTP and TFTP not be run on the console, you can move
these services (along with DHCP and DNS) to the CLIMs.
Procedures for moving these services to the CLIM are located in the NonStop Technical Library
in the Support Information category. Documentation also exists for the reverse procedure, moving
the services to the console from the CLIM.
Fallback
If the CLIM or CLIMs you are downgrading are being used for DNS services instead of the system
consoles on your LAN, you must migrate these services to the NonStop System Console. See the
service procedure: Changing the DHCP, DNS, or BOOTP Server From CLIMs to System Consoles.
FTP API Enhancements
The FTP API Library supports these enhancements for the J06.07 RVU:
New APIs added to the FTP API Library:
Copies files from a remote host to a local computer using the current file transfer type.FTPmget()
Copies local files to a remote host using the current file transfer type.FTPmput()
Deletes files on a remote host.FTPmdelete()
The FTPopen() API is enhanced to read the user name and password from the FTPCSTM
file if they are not supplied by the user.
