About This Document
This guide describes:
• Upgrading the initial J06.07 RVU through the use of SUT refreshes, if necessary.
• Falling back to a previous SYSnn.
Supported RVUs
This manual supports the J06.07.00 RVU and all subsequent nn RVUs unless otherwise noted.
Intended Audience
This guide is written for operations staff and support personnel and requires a working knowledge
of Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2008, OSM client and server components, system
console software, NonStop Software Essentials, DSM/SCM, Target Interface (ZPHITI), and ZPHIRNM
applications.
New and Changed Information in This Edition
This edition includes these changes:
• Added references to Support Note SN 12023 (OSM application issues with Administrator
user on NSC).
• New art in the steps for loading a system
• Changes to falling back to previous CLIM software in “Falling Back on the CLIMs, Loading
the Previous RVU, and Resuming Normal Operations ” (page 108).
Changes are indicated by change bars.
New and Changed Information in Previous Editions
Change bars for previous editions have been retained in the current edition.
The 538129-009 edition included these changes:
• Support for the DHCP DNS configuration wizard
• Support for NonStop Software Essentials
• Changes to falling back to previous CLIM software in “Falling Back on the CLIMs, Loading
the Previous RVU, and Resuming Normal Operations ” (page 108).
The 538129-008 edition contained additional information about USERID attributes for persistent
processes in “DSM/SCM Upgrade Issues/Interoperability SPR Requirements” (page 35), which is
marked with change bars.
The 538129-007 edition contained these changes:
• All acronym definitions were moved to the glossary. Hyper links are provided from the acronym
to the term in the glossary.
• Stronger language regarding the importance of the NonStop Firmware Matrices was added
to Chapter 2: “Managing Microcode and Firmware” (page 23) and to “Managing CLIM
Firmware” (page 29).
• “Managing Server Blade Firmware” (page 25) was reorganized, with firmware levels moved
to the NonStop Firmware Matrices.
• An important warning was added to the note in “Run the inetd Process” (page 97).
