Online help for using Scout is available on the Scout Web site.
• The DSM/SCM Planner Interface or Scout provides a facility for viewing and printing softdocs
and release documents on the SUT after you receive new software into the archive. For more
information, see the DSM/SCM User's Guide or Scout.
System Console Requirements
A system console is an HP-approved personal computer used to run maintenance and diagnostic
software for NonStop servers. See the NonStop System Console Installer Guide to find out which
operating system new consoles are configured to use.
Updating System Consoles (Optional)
HP recommends that you always update to the latest NSC installer DVD. If you have ordered new
system consoles for this RVU, the latest client-side software is already installed; if not, obtain the
latest NSC installer DVD. See the NonStop System Console Installer Guide for detailed information
on installing the system console software. If you have NonStop Software Essentials installed on a
different HP SIM CMS, update it there.
If you are migrating a G-series legacy system console to use OSM, certain client-side system
requirements must be met. See the NonStop System Console Installer Guide and the OSM Migration
and Configuration Guide for PC system requirements and information on migrating to OSM.
See the NonStop System Console Installer Guide for instructions on upgrading your system console
software to the latest available versions.
This guide shows you how to upgrade the RVU using either the DSM/SCM Planner Interface or
NonStop Software Essentials. If you are using a 64-bit console, you must use NonStop Server
Essentials.
If the NonStop Server Essentials server is not installed, see the NonStop Software Essentials
Installation and Quick Start Guide for installation procedures.
Using OSM With This RVU
OSM Server-Based Components
The server-based OSM SPR released with this RVU is T0682H02^ABX. This version may be
superseded by a later version.
NOTE: Beginning with T0682H02^AAZ, the OSM Service Connection Suite requires you to
install JRE version 1.5.0_11 or later. However, these JRE versions are incompatible with OSM
server versions older than T0682H02^AAY (for NonStop NS series servers and BladeSystems)
and T0682H02^AAV (for NonStop S-series servers). Therefore, all NonStop servers also managed
by this console must be running one of those OSM server versions or later.
Highlights of OSM support include:
• Guided or documented service procedures for replacing various system components in NonStop
BladeSystems and NS2000 series servers.
• Firmware updates for:
c7000 enclosure firmware◦
◦ Blade element firmware for NS2000 series servers
◦ VIO enclosure firmware
◦ ME firmware on ServerNet Switch Boards, located in IOAMs, VIO logic boards, and
c7000 enclosures
